Redmine Emulator - Emulator Issues #12958 (New): [Feature Request] Allow sorting of games in grid viewhttps://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/129582022-06-22T03:31:47Zichee1

Sorting of games in list view (eg. by platform, by region, by name, etc.) is not currently possible when in grid view.

Adding a similar option while in grid view, or at least carrying over the chosen sort method in list view, would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Emulator - Emulator Issues #12584 (Accepted): Feature Request: Simplify Dolphin's code and remov...https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/125842021-07-17T00:38:58ZJMC4789JMC4789@gmail.com

Something I've noticed in recent years is that the SyncGPU option is rather lackluster. Due to how Dolphin has been evolving over the years, there isn't really a great usecase for SyncGPU. For stuff like netplay, we have Deterministic GPU and single core. If you want accuracy? Single Core is outright better than SyncGPU.

Performance wise, while SyncGPU can theoretically be faster than Single Core, it suffers from lots of stutters and hitches that aren't present in Single Core. There's also many cases where SyncGPU is outright slower, buggier, or unstable compared to SyncGPU in games that require stability.

Our Fifo code is extremely complicated right now with tons of paths, and it's probably where a lot of the remaining bugs and timing issues in Dolphin remain. By removing one of the paths, we could greatly simplify the codebase to make potential improvements easier while lowering the amount of testing that would need to be done on timing changes.

By removing the SyncGPU option, we would still use GPU timings on single core. Dualcore, on the other hand, would remain dualcore. And DeterministicDualcore for Netplay would be unaffected.

Emulator - Emulator Issues #12312 (Accepted): CMake fails to find minizip2 on Arch Linuxhttps://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/123122020-10-31T16:04:05ZVIRTUALDOG

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

On Arch Linux, minizip >= 2 is provided by this aur package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/minizip-git/

Which installs the library as minizip2. However, this library is not found during CMake configuration:

minizip and minizip2 seem to be separate projects, with minizip being from the original zlib maintainers and minizip "version 2" being from a fork by nmoinvas (https://github.com/nmoinvaz/minizip)

Emulator - Emulator Issues #11876 (New): [Feature Request] Load game into RAMhttps://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/118762019-10-13T18:37:38ZAnuskuss

I store my images on a NAS and I have a big stutter everytime the Final Lap sound plays in Mario Kart Wii. I'm assuming this has something to do with network latency or because my drive fell asleep but this does not happen when I place the image on my SSD.
Anyway, I have plenty of RAM and would like to load the image asynchronously into memory. PPSSPP already allows me to do that and the games start instantly (so no need to copy them to my SSD/RAM disk beforehand) and it does actually help with load times.

I would love to see the possibility of alternative input methods on the Dolphin UI home screen instead of just keyboard and mouse, such as allowing xinput or any game controller to navigate the interface.

This may require a few refinements while using a controller as an input, such as hiding the "File" menus at the top while a controller is actively in use, restoring those menus to the top as the user switches back to mouse input.

See attached screenshots for a comparison between how Wx and Qt sized this button.

This is a very small nitpick, but something that's annoyed me since switching to Qt. The "Generate a New Statistics Identity" button is unnecessarily wide, and were it changed to be only as wide as the text on the button, I think it would look much better.

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab, MD5 Hash: Compute)

hahahahahahhahahahaha

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong. Also turn it into a sarcastic story.

Let's say you had a build of Dolphin that sorta-properly-but-maybe-not emulated GPU timings to the point where the Advance Game Port could run games again. Basically, imagine the Advance Game Port was functional and didn't randomly crash all the time. Okay, now that you did that, you need DSP-LLE and a GameCube BIOS of any region. Once you have that, load up the Advance Game Port, set the Advance Game Port to SlotB and make sure you dumped a GBA rom that works in the Advance Game Port. I used Mario Golf in my test but any game works.

Anyway, if you happen to be using GCI Folders in Slot A, things seem to be working fine. The game runs at a crisp 14 - 20 FPS on the Advance Game Port with the audio constantly stuttering. It's beautiful, really. Hell, the 2004 version of the Advance Game Port at least emulates the game's mirrored sprites correctly, unlike the 2003 version. So really you can't ask for a better way to play Mario Golf: Advance Tour on the big screen.

But in the 2004 version of the Advance Game Port is this fancy new "snapshot" feature which lets you save your progress even in games that don't have saves. Why you'd need to use this over Dolphin's savestates, I don't exactly know but for some reason I decided to try it out and BOOM. Dolphin crashed.

Using regular memory cards works fine, but that's no fun. Dolphin definitely shouldn't crash at the very least, even if this feature for some reason can't be supported with a fix.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

This issue isn't actually present in any version of Dolphin as they'll hang very early in the boot process. It only theoretically exists in the sense that if the AGP were to boot, it'd definitely happen.

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

The above also applies to stable versions.

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

I guess the first broken revision would be the one that added GCI folders?

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible.
