What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.
Often during play (at least once an hour, sometimes twice), the game will completely freeze and have to be forcibly closed. It most often occurs during loading screens, but I had 4 occur doing normal play (catching a fish, twice during a cutscene with the Harvest Goddess showing the player a picture, and once during a tool skill level up).
Now, the problem doesn't seem to occur in the 5.0 stable version of Dolphin after 8 hours of total playtime. However, there is a known graphical glitch in the 5.0 version (https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/2701). This graphical glitch was fixed in Development version 5.0-1487. The problem is, using that specific version of development brings the freezes. Using the most current version of Dolphin brings the freezes as well.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
I'm not sure. The loading screen one seems pretty easy to keep testing, however they never were repeated freezes except one. During a cutscene when the player first meets the Harvest Goddess, she shows the player a picture of the Bells. The game froze twice on that screen, and I had to reload my save 3 times to get through it. The other freezes were never the "same" loading screen, or the same event.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on? Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which versions of Dolphin used to work?
5.0 - No freezes.
5.0-1487 - Fixes earlier mentioned graphical glitch, but has Freezes.
5.0-4698 - Fixes earlier mentioned graphical glitch, but has Freezes.

Can you find the exact build where the freezes were introduced. If it happens once an hour, it'd be a painful bisect, but, finding an exact build could guarantee that someone will look into it.

Actually, before you do that, could you enable logging and see if there is anything suspicious when the game crashes?

Absolutely! I will get back to you ASAP! Thank you much.

Are you by chance using cheatcodes? Your current bisect points toward a particular build that affected cheat codes and made random crashing a thing.

Actually I am! I'm using a Gecko code for slightly increased walking speed. I haven't gotten to play this week but I'll disable that code when I get a chance to test with logging enabled. I would love if that was the problem since it's a super easy fix.

That'd be great. Please keep me updated, and feel free to email me this gets buried and I don't respond... the issue tracker has so many issues that I sometimes miss updates.

So I ran around in-game for a few hours with cheats completely disabled and I haven't had the freeze/lock up occur! Thank you very much for helping me pinpoint this. I'd much rather have a stable game than a slightly increased character run speed. :P

- Status changed from New to Invalid
Awesome to hear. I'm going to make this issue invalid I think... but it's definitely valid. Gecko Codes are problematic, but, this issue has nothing to do with that until the comments.
