Does this still happen? We fixed an issue a while back with OpenAL having garbled audio when booting certain games.

Not sure. My NAS is still offline, so I'm unable to test atm.

I just tested. I can confirm the sound is still garbled with this game when using OpenAL.

OpenAL backend is gone now. Should this be closed?

It's still present in 5.0-13182, just not longer the default. Was it purged completely today?

This actually is mentioning only one game.
There's nothing unique about the issue on this game, this happens on many games.
OpenAL is not gone it's just no longer included and it will selectable only if it's put in the dolphin folder or OpenAL32.dll is installed in the system folders.
This issue should be closed another one correctly identifies that it's more general than this game and has a correct bisect.
Isssue #10205 is the one that's got a bisect
