Description

Game Name?

Guitar Hero - 5 [SXEE52]

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab)

Guitar Hero - 5 [SXEE52]

Only Select/Start/Arrows are working on the drum.
Issue only occurs with Guitar Hero 5.

World Tour, Metallica, etc. appears to work fine.
My setup also works for Rock Band.
Drum: Rock Band PS3 Drum (shouldn't matter).

How to reproduce:

  1. Setup drums
  2. Run Guitar Hero 5
--> Green pad is not working, can't skip the animation, nor it works in menu

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab, MD5 Hash: Compute)

The supplied MD5 doesn't match the GameTDB version (http://www.gametdb.com/Wii/SXEE52) - it might be a bad dump. Perhaps try re-dumping and seeing if that helps?

Thanks for the fast reply.

Do you mean you can't reproduce the bug?

I did not dump the game myself and it is converted into .wbfs format instead of ISO, which could lead to a different hash. I'm pretty sure the dump is fine but I can try finding another dump

I personally don't have the game so can't test. You're correct that converting to WBFS doesn't keep all the data intact and makes the md5sum change (and therefore useless), though.

This game may not support that particular drumpad. We've run into this before - you may wanna test on console to make sure it actually is supported by this particular game.

Well does it really matter as it is emulated? I mean I could bind my keyboard letter G to green and it is not working either

Yeah, I'm not sure what JMC is onto here... We only emulate one type of drums, and that type is compatible with all Guitar Hero games but not all Rock Band games. I'm fairly certain that the issue reporter isn't using USB passthrough, since RB drums aren't compatible with Wii GHWT, which would contradict the issue description.

I'm pretty sure the Guitar Hero does support the Rockband stuff.... Or Rockband supports the Guitar Hero. Sorry if I'm confused.

Our emulated drumpad may not be the correct version for the game you're trying to play.

To be more clear, I am using

  1. Guitar from RockBand on PS3 (wireless but has a USB dongle connected)
  2. Drum from RockBand on PS3 (wired by USB)

The Guitar appears to be working with every Rock Band (1, 2, 3) and all Guitar Hero (World Tour, Metallica, 5, ...)

The drum works with (Rock Band 2, 3, Guitar Hero World Tour & Metallica (altough there is no orange pad)) but doesn't work with Rock Band 1 (it is stated everywhere that nothing works with RB1) and partially with Guitar Hero 5 (Select, Start, arrows).

Using the keyboard as a drum doesn't fix the issue either.

Thanks

Nevermind for Rock Band 1 the guitar doesn't work either

I'm pretty sure that all of the official Rockband instruments are USB and that the third party/Guitar Hero ones are Wii Remote, which is what you're emulating. So, it not working with Rockband 1 isn't surprising.

I'm guessing whatever "drumset" we're emulating isn't the same as the one that Guitar Hero 5 expects.

Thanks for the explanation. Once emulated, is my drum reconized as a wiimote based drum or a usb drum?

If I buy the original wii drum with a real wiimote, will it work(i have bluetooth)

Thanks

The game is certainly aware of the drums (emulated analog stick works). I suspect the issue with the pads is caused by never sending how "hard" the drum pads have been hit. I'll have to decide how to expose that to the input dialog. Or maybe for starters just tell the game the drums have been hit at the hardest level.
