What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

So far, I've experienced 2 issues: (1) selecting between multiple enemies and (2) trading items. And these are all from starting the first mission.

(1) When selecting between multiple enemies the attack goes to whoever the game auto-suggests first no matter who you picked.
I added a screenshot for this. I select the bottom enemy but I still attack the right one.

(2) This is a little more difficult to explain if one is not familiar with how the trading system works in this game. But basically you get the inventories
from both parties and are shown left and right for each party. You can then select an item on either side and then select an item or empty spot from the other side.
This way the item is traded or transferred. But there are 2 problems here: if I select an item from the left side the game jumps to as if I selected an item from the right side to trade to left instead of me selecting an item or spot from the right. The other problem is that the trade simply doesn't happen. No item can be traded from 1 party to the other.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

When you're in the first mission:

Selecting enemy

  1. You'll have to beat the first 2 enemies since they are not in a position where you can select between either of them.
  2. Try to reach the same position as the first screenshot as I posted or any position where you can choose an enemy to attack.
  3. Attack an enemy that was not the first one indicated by the game.

Trading items (game jumps to right side)

  1. Move any character adjacent to one of your allies
  2. Select Trade
  3. Select item from left side

Trading items (trade doesn't work)

  1. Move any character adjacent to one of your allies
  2. Select Trade
  3. Select item from right side
  4. Select item or empty spot from left side

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Yes, 5.0-6208

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

Yes, 5.0

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

N.A.

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

[Attach any fifologs if possible, write a description of fifologs and screenshots here to assist people unfamiliar with the game.]

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

CPU: Intel i7-4710HQ, 2.5GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M
OS: Windows 10, 64 bit
RAM: 8Gb

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

I have a save state for the enemy selection but don't know where to post it since it larger than 5Mb.

These issues sound like issues within the game rather than something specific to Dolphin. It'd be really hard for Dolphin to have issues like these, so, comparisons between behavior on Console and Dolphin would be appreciated.

Also, savefiles would be more useful than savestates. If these are valid issues, then, having a savefile that works in every version of Dolphin would be much better than savestates locked to the build they were created in.

I can confirm these issues are not present on a console, I had a friend try it out with the exact same sequence of actions I did. So this is more of an issue with the ISO I'm using? I used CleanRip to get it.

This is interesting and all, but without a savefile I can't really do much to test it.

Savestates won't help with an issue like this. Also, I don't think it's an ISO issue. It's just, this game has forever teased me with hard to reproduce bugs, and an easy one would be super nice.

Sorry for the late reply, been a little busy.

I'm not sure if these are the files you're looking for, I right-clicked the game, chose "Open Wii save folder" and zipped the data folder.
Good luck! I look forward to hearing what you found.

I'm hopeful this can help lead to figuring out what's causing the crashes... thanks.

Hi, I forgot to report back to this thread but the strangest thing happened and I cannot pinpoint exactly what the fix was.
The good news is that the game works as intended right now. When I reported this issue I had just installed the stable version of 5.0.
I played with some configurations which did not help. After a while I downloaded the 4.0.2 version to just try it out which initially did not work as well. And then the next day the problems were suddenly gone. I tried to recreate the bug by installing 5.0 again but the bugs did not reappear. I also put the configs back to default but I couldn't recreate the issues. Does it perhaps have to do with the c++ redistributable? I don't know if different versions are used between dolphin version 4 and 5. Or maybe some other programs on my computer, I have Visual Studio..

As long as you're not running into issues I'm happy. Sorry it took me so long, I misunderstood what you meant in your original post which led me to delay looking into this. Back to investigating the crash...

No problem, it was a strange thing in the first place; I couldn't find anyone on the interwebz who was experiencing the same thing. :)
