Cannot reproduce. Neither when the widget is docked nor when it's a separate window.
Maybe it only happens in very cramped situations? (e.g. Tabs on both sides, no room for the gamelist).

I just have the game list and log visible. I tried splitting them evenly but the default sizes were restored after restarting Dolphin.

I cannot reproduce this issue either. While I don't mind bug reports like this on no-nonsense issues, not having examples and a full issue report becomes more problematic when we can't reproduce it. Considering it's GUI, could you get screenshots and whatnot?

Updated by ryanebola16 over 6 years ago

This issue may actually be the game list returning to almost default size rather than the log window, since the same issue occurs with the log configuration window. Updated reproduction steps:

  1. Move your Dolphin config folder elsewhere (to eliminate config changes as a variable)
  2. Start Dolphin
  3. Show log (see Default Position.png)
  4. Expand the size of the log window (see Expanded Log Window.png)
  5. Close Dolphin
  6. Restart Dolphin
  7. Observe the log window is almost the same size as the default position (see After Dolphin Restart.png)

This didn't occur in WX. Don't forget to restore your old config files when finished testing.

I reproduced this on another Win 10 PC. Are you still having trouble reproducing it?

How many monitors do you have, and what are their resolutions?
Which version of windows 10 (number shown in cmd.exe is fine)?
What are your display scaling settings?

Actions #7

Primary PC:
1 monitor
1920*1080
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.112]
Default 100% display scaling settings unchanged.

Other PC:
1 monitor
1600*900
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.112]
Default 100% display scaling settings unchanged.

I was able to repro this problem, but only when the Dolphin main window is maximized. The repro steps don't say to maximize, so I'm not sure if the original bug also happened in "restored" (unmaximized) state, but it only happens when maximized for me. I looked into this, and sadly, it's a known bug in Qt, reported twice:

There are some workarounds that are proposed on those pages, and including one from this SO answer: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/44005852/qdockwidgetrestoregeometry-not-working-correctly-when-qmainwindow-is-maximized, but they don't work. The problem with the workaround is that it messes up the restored state.

So I guess until Qt fixes this, we're stuck with this bug.

Just tested this again. This only occurs with maximized windows. Thanks for the info! Hopefully QT fixes it.

I still experience this issue in Windows and only with maximized windows.

Linux experiences no such issue.
