Description

Game Name?

New Super Mario Bros Wii = SMNE01
New Super Mario Bros Wii 2: The Next Levels = PPNE01

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab, MD5 Hash: Compute)

New Super Mario Bros Wii: 945a5e4c3498617ca40f09b4dae2fbc9
New Super Mario Bros Wii 2: 0e2dc4d890623892752a72dbd720cffd

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

New Super Mario Bros Wii 2 share the same cover and the same name as New Super Mario Bros Wii. Oddly enough, Super Mario Bros 3+ (Another Fanmade Hack) has a different cover and title.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

I download the game
I put it on my dolphin game folder
It now shows as New Super Mario Bros Wii. Even though it's "New Super Mario Bros Wii 2"

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Dolphin 5.0-8582

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

Yeah... Dolphin uses a database and that database recycles the info of "New Super Mario Bros Wii" for "New Super Mario Bros Wii 2".

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

Could be the first version that uses the database.

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

[Attach any fifologs if possible, write a description of fifologs and screenshots here to assist people unfamiliar with the game.]

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

[PC specs here]
OS: Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Build 17704 (Will update soon into a current build)
CPU: Intel Core i5 4440 at 3.10GHz
GPU: 2gb ATI AMD Radeon HD 7000 series
RAM: 6GB

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

TitleDB should make the custom cover that made by a user the official cover as a fix.
Dolphin should detect "New Super Mario Bros Wii 2" as "New Super Mario Bros Wii 2".

[Anything else here]
I have copied my games off my 14gb usb drive after the Wii had trouble detecting my games. I had the black screen problem. So if i want to play wii games. I had to install Dolphin.

Are you sure that Dolphin's game properties shows the game ID for New Super Mario Bros. Wii 2 as PPNE01?

Actions #2

It shows as SMNE01. Maybe the ISO's id was not changed.

  • Status changed from New to Invalid

That's the problem, then. You'll either have to disable the game name database and provide a custom cover (or turn off cover support), or you'll have to ask the creator of the mod to fix the game ID (or edit it manually if you just want the fix personally).

However USB Loader GX detected it as PPNE01 and downloaded the correct cover and used the name that was on the WBFS file.

I meant to say WBFS on #2.

I don't know about the creator. The "Copyright" says "(C) 2010 Casper". However i don't really know what it means. Is it the software? The shovelware games? A person?

It's possible that the game ID in the unencrypted header is PPNE01 while the game ID in the game partition is SMNE01. Dolphin reads the latter, and there aren't really any plans to change that.

Yeah... I think USB Loader GX looks at the unencrypted header... I don't think i'm gonna contact "Casper". That person could have left the Wii Homebrew community. Anyways "New Super Mario Bros Wii 2" is a low-quality hack of "New Super Mario Bros Wii"

I don't really think i'm gonna be able to put a seperate cover because the game partition ID is the same as the official version.
