Description

Game Name?
Chibi-Robo!

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab)
GGTE01

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, properties, info tab, MD5 Hash: Compute)
fb0123c05fceb74892b16acc9387e894

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.
Randomly, I notice the music will stop during gameplay. Typically occurs when some sound effects go off, but I can't exactly figure out.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Play the game as normal.
  2. Attempt to make sound effects play as much as possible.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.
5.0-8596. A user said that this was fixed in 5.0-4869, so possible regression.

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?
Yes.

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)
This issue takes a while to occur so I can't really say. I'll have to bisect whilst playing and just wait for it to occur at some point. I'll attempt the version that was supposedly the fix (5.0-4869) and report back about it when I've got it and then bisect from there.

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)
CPU: Intel i5-4690
GPU: GeForce GTX 960
OS: Windows 10 x64

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

DSP HLE is what I'm using. I'll try LLE to see if it'll affect this issue after I'm done bisecting.
This is a duplicate of [[https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/9104]] technically as well.

Dummy me forgot to even add a title. "Chibi-Robo! music randomly cutting out and reappearing" should be sufficient.

Got a couple of questions as we've seen this complaint before:

Are you using dualcore or single core?
Are you using any cheat codes (widescreen hacks, etc.)
Are you using any known-to-be-hacky settings like Fast-Disc-Speed?
Is your ISO compressed?

  1. Dualcore. Happened in singlecore too though, I had it off on accident while messing with settings and it was still happening.
  2. Nope.
  3. Nope.
  4. Yes. GCZ.

1: Lines up with the old report, cool.
2: Yeah, figured
3: Good
4: Shouldn't matter, but felt like asking.

So... I have an idea - can you see if the music gets stuck on console in some conditions - this could be a game bug. If it's using DTK audio, it could also be an issue if you're loading the game with the BIOS.

Still happens in 5.0-4869. Hm. Seems like it depends on computers and stuff? Not really sure. I'll try to record a session of just me playing to see if it ever pops up at some point to show it.

Yeah, the only reason we said it was fixed was that the person stopped being able to reproduce it. I'm wondering if it's a game bug to be honest.

I marked it as a game bug several years ago, stating that if you triggered certain jingles at a song's loop point you could potentially cause music to fade out until the next loop. Maybe this is a Dolphin bug but honestly I don't know.

I have noticed one way to trigger this easily. I am starting to wonder if it's a game bug as well. At night, if you have a 15 minute timer on and it gets to the halfway point, the loop fails to go through and it just stops for the rest of the night. It fades out and just never comes back on.

Sorry, I didn't even see your reply. I'd test on console but the only way I really have to do that is to use Nintendont with my dump. I only have a backup and no disc. Also I don't use BIOS.

The music fading out halfway through the night is actually intended, as it does that on console too.

Additional note: I mean to say it's intended behavior on Dolphin. Whether the developers intended for the night music to fade out, I don't know, but we're at least emulating that properly. The music randomly stopping, however, is not something I've ever encountered on console (and I've played this game many times on console), so that's almost definitely our problem.

Until we have an actual way to consistently reproduce this issue, I cannot see any point in keeping it open. I've played through the full game along with at least one other developer who cannot reproduce the issue. I've never reproduced the issue, and the other dev has but can no longer reproduce it.

If you find an even semi-consistent way to cause an issue that does not occur on console, please report this issue again.
