Emulator Issues #11578
openCannot Frame Advance on TAS Input Window
0%
Description
What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.
On Dolphin-9618 (the latest development version), I cannot frame advance on the TAS Input window. Instead, I have to click on the game window in order to advance a frame. This is highly inconvenient.
Is the issue present in the latest stable version?
This is not an issue on stable Dolphin 5.0 release. I think the issue occurred ever since the design of the TAS Input window itself was implemented, which I don't particularly think was a good choice either.

Oh the issue was that apparently there's an option in the hotkeys menu for "Background Input." I think for TAS Input at least, we shouldn't have to enable background input. It doesn't really make sense to require that to me.

After checking back on 5.0-9618 the background input option... for hotkeys... is in controller settings. I don't think that makes much sense either.

We have an open issue for separating hotkey background input and controller background input: https://bugs.dolphin-emu.org/issues/8262
Though maybe the TAS input window shouldn't be affected by the background input setting anyway...? While I can see why it was implemented so that hotkeys only work when the game window is active, the main intent of the setting is just to prevent you from using hotkeys when using something other than Dolphin, not while using TAS input.
