Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Play the game, it's constantly there, even in the intro 2. 3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
When playing on a non-native resolution you'll notice there's a rectangular
area in the top-left which is blurry for some reason. On a native
resolution it covers the entire screen making everything blurry. While you
should get an clear image

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
R3829 JIT64 DC on Windows Vista x64

Please provide any additional information below.
When disabling the EFB the rectangular area changes into a corrupted
texture, so I think it may be related to the EFB. And according to
http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/wiki/Doc_EFB the EFB is used for DOF
effects, Zelda TP has a DOF effect which I can't see in dolphin. So I think
the blurry area might be the DOF effect but it has the wrong depth. (and
doesn't increase in size to support non-native resolutions)

The issue isn't present in R3404, so it's a regression.

And I don't know for sure if Zelda TP has a DOF effect, if not never mind what I said
about that.

I've narrowed it down a bit, the regression happened between R3416 and R3427.

R3426 doesn't have this problem, so R3427 is the revision that caused this issue.

I think it ever was present, it's just you had to use the projection hack.
also, a few other games (wii sport for example) have the same issue, i'm not whether
it's a bug or how the game really should be. :)

If it is meant to be like that, is there any way to get rid of it? It significantly
reduces image quality.

It has always been present. I'm pretty sure it's meant to be stretched over the whole
screen, not really sure why it isn't...

You're right, in earlier versions it only happened when enabling the bloom hack. But
why would it be there just to reduce the image quality? I'd rather not have it and
get a much clearer image.

A little hack to remove this would be fine, till we get a proper DoF emulation in
LoZ:WW and LoZ:TP

Well on a native resolution, that is to say on the real hardware, you wouldn't notice
it ;)
as for removing it, you can do a quick projection hack so it disappears, but that's
ugly :o

Well, it's only temporary and optional. Most people would rather hide it than to have
1/4 (or all) of their screen covered in blur.

If someone could create such a projection hack I'd appreciate it. I can't do it
myself, I wouldn't know how. :(

Use Bleach versus crusade hack.

You're right, that hides it! Thanks!

  • Status changed from New to Won't fix

i'm marking it as wontfix, as it's unfortunately how the game should be, if there's
another issue here it has to do with the EFB and so issue 1021 or something :o

The Bleach versus crusade hack breaks the mini-map though.

Scaled EFB fixes all this.

I just finished Zelda TP a few months ago with the scaled EFB, I can confirm it is fixed.
