Description

Game Name?

Donkey Kong Country Returns

Game ID?

SF8E01

MD5 Hash?

159e0ba608c2109958ca90f55994a1f7

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

When I play this game, I get some major stutters in random intervals, although never back to back. I'm pretty sure that they aren't shader related, I used skip drawing and they still occurred. I also deleted the shader cache to see the shader gen stutter and they are very minor and don't come close to the random major stutters which last about 0.6 seconds.
I've tested OpenGL, DX11 and DX12 and all showed the same behavior. I also tested in single core and with gecko codes disabled and default settings.
I haven't found anything that triggers it but I think I get the stutter on average every 7 or so minutes and usually once per level but sometimes I play for 15 minutes without any stutters.

I've had this issue since I use Dolphin (1 year know I think) but never bothered to report it because it is not that game breaking or annoying.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

I get the stutter every 7 minutes on average by just playing the game.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

5.0-10131

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

Yes, although it seemed to be less. Hard to know due to the random nature of the issue.

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

I5 4670k, GTX1060, W10

Probably JIT code cache flushing. Enable the PowerPC log category and see if you get a message about that when the stutter occurs.

Er, the log category is named "IBM CPU".

Yep, seems to be JIT cache flushing: core\powerpc\jit64\jit.cpp:737 W[PowerPC]: flushing main code cache, please report if this happens a lot

That's really the last major source of stuttering in Dolphin.

I see, any reason why this happens (more often?) in DKCR than in SMG for example? I only have this issue in DKCR.

Depends on how much code the game generates.

I think this is the same problem I'm experiencing with Disney Epic Mickey (see issue #11693) ...could you please try Dolphin 5-0-8007 to see if on your system that build is stutter free as well?

I suggest to check if 5.0-11318 has fixed this (duplicated) issue
