Description

Game Name?

Star Wars - Rogue Squadron III - Rebel Strike

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Info tab)

GLRE64

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Verify tab, Verify Integrity button)

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

In RS3, the screen transitions are purple unless XFB2RAM is enabled. However, this setting causes the top half of the screen to flicker during the intro on the hardware backends. Single vs dual core does not affect this but dual core + SyncGPU can get in-game while on single core the game hangs after an unknown opcode. The software renderer (which I think has XFB2RAM always on) has a different issue where the top half of the screen is duplicated to the bottom.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Start Dolphin

  2. Enable XFB2RAM

  3. Start the game. The issue is obvious as soon as the game opens.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

5.0-10910

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

No XFB2RAM on 5.0. I will test with XFB Real if necessary.

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

5.0-5968

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

I have recorded a video of the issue (https://youtu.be/wWm3li90tPU). I have also included a screenshot of the software issue. Fifologs don't seem to work with XFB, I just get a green screen when playing them back, so I didn't include one.

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

OS: Windows 7 SP1
CPU: Intel Core i3-3220
GPU:Intel HD graphics 2500

Since this PC is too underpowered for this game, I'll test it on another system when I get a chance.

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

[Anything else here]

This is fixed if Defer EFB copies to RAM is disabled. You can close the issue.

Cool. RS3 is still incredibly broken though.
