Description

Game Name?

Photo Channel / Wii Menu

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Info tab)

HAYA01 (Photo Channel) / 0000000100000002 (Wii Menu)

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Verify tab, Verify Integrity button)

e356285d36e8884932f11a3048878615 (Photo Channel 1.1 v3 hash in No-Intro)

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

After sending a photo from the Photo Channel from the SD Card to the Wii Message Board, the resulting image is just a black canvas. This could happen with any message with a JPEG in it that's sent to the Wii Message Board.

The problem seems to be that it will not convert the image to the compressed format that the Wii Message Board uses into its proprietary AJPG format. Which is undocumented, by the way. It might use a graphics format seen on the Game Boy Advance.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Open the Photo Channel with an SD Card mounted with a picture on it.
  2. Go to Post, and send the photo to the Wii Message Board.
  3. Go to the Wii Menu and check the Wii Message Board. The picture appears black and failed to convert.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Yes, 5.0-11665.

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

Probably, 5.0.

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

[Attach any fifologs if possible, write a description of fifologs and screenshots here to assist people unfamiliar with the game.]

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB
macOS Catalina 10.15.3

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

A screenshot is attached of this problem.

Interesting issue. I'm guessing that this is done via starlet or else Dolphin should technically do it?
