Emulator Issues #12015

closed

Animal Crossing (USA) is screwed up in all sorts of ways for me. Black textures, lots of bad reads and writes, memory card issues, completely unplayable.

Description

Game Name?

Animal Crossing (USA)

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Info tab)

GAFE01

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Verify tab, Verify Integrity button)

7853049ccd0c1e2bffeb5b12393a5409

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

When I start the game, it's all fine until the Nintendo logo goes away. Then the game freezes, and a window pops up complaining about an invalid read. (Sadly I can't tell you what the specific error was, because I clicked a button to never show the error and I can't get it to appear again.) Anyway, I click ok, then it goes back to the game and shows the start screen demo. Only problem is, my character is entirely black. No textures at all, purely the color black. When the demo loops for a second time, I get another invalid read. I press ok and there's like 3 more. Once I close all of them, the second start demo loop starts and this time the character has textures and looks completely normal. I hit start and it goes to the opening with K.K Slider, who tells me that he can't find any memory cards. I tell him to try again and it works. I start a new game on slot A. Then it gets to the train, but the outside is completely black.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

For me it's just starting the game, but nobody else seems to have this so I don't think anybody could reproduce it.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Yes. Its been present in every version since I started using Dolphin. As I'm writing i'm on 5.0-11608

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

Yes. 5.0.

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

Will do this after my test tomorrow.

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

I put the fifoplayer log in the attached files. I'm not sure how to put an image here so I also put it in the attached files.

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 18632)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
VRAM: 8088 MB
System Manufacturer: Alienware
System Model: Alienware Aurora R7
DirectX Version: DirectX 12

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

I attached a screenshot that could help.

[Anything else here]

Do you perhaps have some glitchy AR or Gecko codes enabled?

No, it's a fresh rom with no codes on.

WAIT, I DO HAVE CODES ON! My problem is fixed, thank you. I had a cheat code on that was supposed to replace all villagers with bob the cat AND another code that replaces them with someone else. I don't remember ever turning these codes on, but I turned them off and now my game works fine!
