If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. I played through this game not long ago and didn't have any issues. Perhaps this is a dual core crash? All the Metroid Prime games (especially the Wii ones) known to be unstable on dual core.

Does just Dolphin crash or does really, as you phrased it, the entire computer lock up? Because if it's the latter that's a driver crash.

Pardon my phrasing. All drivers are up to date and I have no issues with any game in or outside of Dolphin other than this problem. I am able to Alt+Tab to see the programs open. I am able to open Task Manager but can only see it in the Alt+Tab selection. I am unable to change the screen from the white dialogue box on a black screen.

This is likely a dual core crash. I will try to play this evening without the extra cores turned on. I attempted the same spot on the stable 5.0 with no issues. No problems experienced entering water anywhere else.

This sounds like the problem where panic alerts in fullscreen can lead to a deadlock. (The title of the panic alert dialog ("Question") shows up, but the rest of the panic alert is white.)

Panic Alert is likely a fifo one, right? So single core should fix it?

You peeps are very smart! Yes. The box does say “Question” and I’m in full screen. I will definitely play with single core. Will performance be similar?

No, the performance with single core is worse, unfortunately. That is the tradeoff you have to make for avoiding errors.

Please test this build with your current settings (with dual core enabled): https://dl.dolphin-emu.org/prs/76/a2/pr-8715-dolphin-latest-x64.7z

This build is intended to fix the freeze. You will still get an error message, but it should show up correctly and you should be able to close it. (Single core is the fix for the error message showing up, but I would like you to test whether this build works as intended so that we know if it is a working fix for the freeze issue.)

  • Status changed from New to Fixed

That pull request is now merged, so... I guess I'm closing this? Please comment if Dolphin still freezes, and we will re-open the issue.
