Description

Currently the only way to communicate with other netplay players is to join an open lobby that's also not in-game. Having a public chat section for those not in a lobby, to the side of the "Netplay Session Browser" perhaps, would help people coordinate games easier.

You could ask if anyone wanted to play Mario Party 4 and if someone answered, you could spin up a lobby.

A player counter could also be nice since we currently can't tell if anyone's even looking at the "Netplay Session Browser" or not.

We do not want to moderate a public chat, so I'm going to have to say no on that. As for a total player counter, I think that would be difficult to calculate as there are people running across hundreds of builds at this point.

Our issue tracker is rather packed right now, so I'm closing this. However, I am not saying that this feature would be rejected if a pull request were provided for the total player counter. My personal opinion is that a public chat would absolutely be rejected due to the fact there is no one to moderate it, but I'm not the person in charge of that decision if someone did do the work.
