Emulator Issues #12067
closed[Feature request, Android] Allow manual configuration of device orientation before game start
0%
Description
Currently Dolphin will boot in landscape mode on Android and there is no way to achieve other orientations without the use of third-party orientation control tools. While I understand there are legitimate reasons for removing the automatic rotation behavior, it would be nice to be able to set the desired orientation before starting emulation. I personally use reverse-landscape as I use my volume keys for the L and R triggers.
As for UI, this could probably be added as an option in the base Graphics Settings menu. It might be interesting to have on desktop, but I personally don't see a reason for it.

This sounds like a reasonable request, especially considering how you're using your phone's exact orientation. Drivers are a bit wonky so autorotate being disabled is a necessity for stability, however giving users the ability to invert for your situation seems like it'd be worthwhile.

You can current configure this when a game is running, though I do agree that it would make sense to also make it available before starting a game (like with essentially all other settings that currently only are available when running a game).

JMC: The reason why autorotate is off by default isn't because of drivers, it's because it can be really annoying when you're trying to use motion controls.
