Emulator Issues #12101
open[Feature Request] Organize AR & Gecko Codes With Dropdown and Radio Buttons
0%
Description
Hopefully this feature require isn't a duplicate, otherwise please ignore it.
While working with a lot of AR & Gecko Codes on Dolphin, I started to notice that there is a lack of structure on how they are accessible to the player.
While writing new AR Codes for the Nintendo 64 Zelda games found on the Virtual Console or GameCube, the list of codes keeps growing and growing as seen in the screenshot that is included, causing a confusing mess of what is what. To make matters worse, some codes only are not compatible with another (aka, pick only one alternative).
The emulator Project64 fixes with this problem with two solutions (screenshot included):
a) Dropdown menu that contains multiple codes (of the same category for example)
b) Modify a code with preset values (double click code to change certain values with preset values)
This would help a great deal for Dolphin to make AR & Gecko Codes easier to oversee, especially when a game is starting to get too many of them.
An alternative solution would be to introduce radio buttons in addition to categories (the dropdown menu). That way an AR or Gecko Coder can make it clear that only one alternative should be chosen.
(Ignore the GameID D43E01 shown in the screenshot, it's a modifier header of the GameID D43E01, which is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Master Quest for the GameCube)
