What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Upon reaching the title screen with HLE audio it's immediately apparent that the volume of the synth instrument/sample is significantly louder than it is supposed to be compared to using LLE and on real hardware. It changes what is normally a very subtle tone into a prominent screeching beep. This affects certain in-game music as well (namely the minigames and friendship points total) that use the same instrument. Fairly minor all things considered but it's an interesting quirk that is not easy too on the ears.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Simply changing the DSP emulation engine from LLE to HLE is enough to trigger the problem.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

I'm using 5.0-13963 but I've known about this problem for years, I just never got around to reporting it.

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

Last I remember.

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

Ryzen 2600, RTX 2060, Windows 10, 16 GBs 2400 MHz RAM, SSD

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

From what I can tell the developer (Skip) used a proprietary music/sound format for this game and for the rest of their WiiWare efforts. There may be some clues in or similar issues affecting the Art Style series and maybe even Captain Rainbow.

Sounds like a valid bug. I'll try to confirm when I have more time.

Can you check this in latest development builds? It might be fixed.

It is not fixed.

The overly loud beeps are caused by the fact that polyphase resampling is currently disabled. The beeps sound correct if you enable it (but then the music crackles).

Note to self: the problematic voices have end_addr 0x260c494f and 0x260c6787.
