What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

The loading times are about 25% slower than on a real Wii.
It's even slower than on a real GameCube.

Total time spent loading across a single completion of the game:
Real Wii: 125-128s
Real GameCube: 144-147s
Dolphin >= 5.0-14514: ~156s

Real consoles data taken from multiple people's systems and discs listed here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16kTAM4g4qUmREwehROz_tzjOS3DXJHLGa44FKWy7GNI/edit#gid=0

JMC suggested testing with different Emulated CPU Core Speed:
Time spent loading at:
100%: 156s
200%: 128s
295%: 116s *error below
400%: 112s *error below

* The error popped up a couple times. But I was able to safely ignore it and keep playing. (probably just caused by dual-core according to JMC). Anyway just 200% puts it more inline with what I'd expect from a Wii. 300% is too fast. And it's a drastic difference with diminishing returns.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Just playing the game. Over the course of a playthrough, the difference starts adding up. It might be hard to tell from 1-2 loads.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

5.0-17716

Is the issue present in the latest stable version?

N/A (loads were broken before 5.0-14514)

If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

N/A

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

[Attach any fifologs if possible, write a description of fifologs and screenshots here to assist people unfamiliar with the game.]

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3070
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor
Windows 10.0.19044

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

Pitfall: The Big Adventure, has previously shared all of the same issues as The Big Expedition (being only a Wii port), but I have not recorded much data to say whether the loads are accurate or not on that version.

Since the CPU clock affects it, this seems like an issue that would be improved by improving the CPU's cycle accuracy. And that's unfortunately a difficult task. A valid issue nonetheless.
