Description
What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.
Updater is seemingly broken. I'm on version 5.0-18661 and can't update to 5.0-18690. I receive the following message:
What steps will reproduce the problem?
Open Dolphin -> Help -> Check for updates -> Install update
Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.
Does not apply since I can't download the latest version (5.0-18690 as of today).
Is the issue present in the latest stable version?
Too old, didn't bother testing.
If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)
Hard to reproduce this since the program will always look for the most recent version in the server.
What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)
i5-10400
GTX 1660 Ti
Windows 10 LTSC 21H2
Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)
The updater log is completely blank, which is quite weird. I would expect it to have some information on what happened with the update process.
Anyway, hopefully this will be figured out soon. Thank you so much for your work.

I tried to update again and this time it showed an error related to not being able to update Visual C++ and asked me to update it myself, and then it showed the same error again (the one posted above).
I checked in Control Panel and noticed I was using Visual C++ version 14.34.31931 and there's an update to 14.34.31938. I went and updated Visual C++, rebooted and tried to run Dolphin updater again and it no longer shows any message related to updating Visual C++ but the original error persists though. No information is written in the log file.
Something is still broken with the updater.
Any help is appreciated.

Yes, the updater is broken starting with 5.0-18651 and fixed in 5.0-18672. You have to update manually by downloading a newer version from https://dolphin-emu.org/.

Thank you so much. Can I just replace the current Dolphin.exe file with this version or a newer one and it will be ok?

The recommended way to update is to extract the .7z file to a new folder.

Thank you. I've already done that and then copied my User folder from my previous installation to the new one and it seems to be working correctly as far as I can tell.
