Description

Game Name? -- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Metroid Prime Trilogy)*
Game ID? -- R3ME01
MD5 Hash? -- 823df1c3c425f1383529f368f6479359
*(I assume this also applies to the standalone release (RM3E01) as well)

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

When opening the menu (1 button) with the Scan Visor active, instead of the current game view being smoothly blurred into the background, a solid pink screen instantly appears instead.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Start a game of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption that has progressed past the first mission on Norion (example: File 1 in importable_save.zip and mp3-visorbug-demo.zip)
  2. Activate the Scan Visor by holding Minus and pointing up, then releasing Minus.
  3. Press the 1 button, and observe as the screen instantly turns pink before the map fades in.
(You might need to skip through some dialog if you don't switch visors quick enough; sorry!)

This bug does not appear on File 2, which puts you at the start of the game.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version. -- Yes (5.0-21685)

Is the issue present in the latest stable beta version? -- Yes (5.0-21460)
(There's no 'stable' download, so I used the latest beta instead)

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

CPU: Intel Core i5-12600K
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700
RAM: 32GB 3200MHz DDR4
OS: Windows 11 23H2 (build 22631.3672)

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)
-- Yes! Save files, screenshots, and a pair of 'fifologs' as well.

Strangely enough, this issue does not appear at the very beginning of the game; it arises after the opening mission on Norion.

This issue also occurred regardless of the settings I used, which leads me to believe it's a bug with the emulator itself.

An importable Wii save file is included with the first file at Bryyo, where the bug occurs, and the second file at the GFS Olympus, right at the beginning of the game, where the bug does not appear.
(You might notice the first file also has MP1 and MP2 completed, it's actually my personal file lol)

I took the suggestion to include fifologs, but unfortunately I couldn't find a way to trim them down, so I've uploaded them to Google Drive instead; sorry for any inconvenience!

(The fifologs were created using 5.0-21460, by the way.)

Does this happen if you disable all the settings on the Graphics > Hacks tab?

Yes, it happens with everything in that tab disabled, as well as with the cache slider set to Safe.

I'd like to add that opening and closing the HOME Menu fixes the background... until you close and open MP3's menu again, at which point the background breaks again.
