What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Using Dolphin Development version 2512-241, attempting to exit the program itself results in Dolphin freezing, becoming unresponsive, and having to crash out or kill in task manager. Many settings such as graphical settings, (or in my case, Triforce IP settings) will get lost during the freeze/crash, and have to be re-entered again.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

I can understand this may not happen to everyone, but in my case, simply opening Dolphin and attempting to close it will result in the freeze.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Yes as of yesterday, version 2512-421. I can see a couple more versions have released since then, but no notes about this crash being fixed.

Not sure, untested. Was interested in the Triforce features.

If the issue isn't present in the latest release, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

Not sure, untested. Was interested in the Triforce features. However, other users (as seen on Reddit) experienced the issue in 2509. They suggested a rollback to 2506 resolved the issue for them.

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

Intel Core i3-12100F
16.0GB RAM
GeForce GTX 1070
Windows 10 PRO 22H2

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

According to a Reddit post on the issue, several factors were mentioned that may have contributed, including:

  • Bluetooth controllers, or bluetooth being toggled on at all at any point.
  • Xbox controllers specifically, and making sure everything on the Xbox side is updated (drivers, etc).
  • Using the "Always Connected" checkbox when configuring the controller.

However, for me, I am not using bluetooth, I am not using an Xbox controller, and toggling the "Always Connected" checkbox on or off did not resolve anything.

I am using a PlayStation flavor T300RS for my controller.

This is usually caused by some kind of SDL issue with certain USB devices and/or controllers.

This build updates to the latest version of SDL, could you try it and see if it fixes your issue?

Unfortunately not, although it did seem to "crash" faster.

Well I did identify the offending device... removing that USB device does stop the crash. Just not sure what to do about that. Are there any further pieces of info I might try to gather that might help identify the specific issue with this device?

It's basically just a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. Kind of generic/cheap, difficult to find any info on it. There are no drivers or software, just plugs in and gets detected.

We'll continue to work on this. There's obviously something wrong.

FYI: As of Dolphin 2512-464, settings are saved when closing the settings window rather then when closing Dolphin.

As far as fixing the freezing, does turning off Enable DirectInput Detection from the SDL Controller Settings window help?
It requires a Dolphin restart so you'll have to force close dolphin after closing the settings windows to then see if it helps in the next Dolphin session.
