[When Load custom textures is pressed the in game mini map activates an overscan]
Using a custom texture pack did not cause this, as once the map file from the texture pack was deleted this problem persisted.

I can't reproduce this by just enabling "Load Custom Textures".

You said removing the custom mini-map texture doesn't resolve the issue, but maybe there is some other, seemingly unrelated custom texture that's causing this.
