Description

Game Name?

WarioWare: Smooth Moves

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Info tab)

RODP01 (00010000524f4450)

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Verify tab, Verify Integrity button)

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

The "temple of form" and some minigames have graphical errors or don't show objects making some unwinnable or very hard.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Go in-game
  2. Go to the "Temple of Form" in the lower left corner of the map
  3. First issue here: The background is black when it should be wooden
  4. Click on "Form" and choose the first one (the Remote Control)
  5. Scroll down until the "Shaving Scream" (third last row, second from the right)
  6. Start the minigame
  7. Everything is black with only the Wiimote being shown, you don't know where to shave making this minigame very hard

Using Metal renderer, but it's the same for Vulkan and OpenGL. Only Software Renderer "works" (but very slow). This also happens with the Direct3D 11 renderer on a Windows VM but I haven't tried on a real Windows PC (don't have one).

There are other minigames with the same problem, like:

  • "Universal Marionette" for "The Handlebar"
  • "Clean Sweep" for "The Janitor"
  • "Wario Land" for "The Boxer"
  • "Laser Clay Shooting" and "Opening Night" for "The Remote Control"

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Yes, 2603-312

Is the issue present in the latest release? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest release.

Yes, 2603a

If the issue isn't present in the latest release, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

[Attach any fifologs if possible, write a description of fifologs and screenshots here to assist people unfamiliar with the game.]

I made the working screenshots with the Software Renderer, that's also how it looks like on console. I hope I did this right with the FIFO thing, was the first time I did it. Just comment if you need more frames or different games or different entrypoints.

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

macOS Sonoma 14.7.7 (23H723)
MacBookPro18,2 (Macbook Pro 16", 2021)
Apple M1 Max
10 Cores
32 GB RAM

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

[Anything else here]

I can't reproduce this.

The FIFO logs and the game appear fine in Vulkan and OpenGL here on Linux.
I was unable to break it with various graphics hacks.

Can you try playing the FIFO logs again after clicking the Reset All Settings button in Dolphin's config, Advanced tab?

Updated by iCON 23 days ago Actions #2

Thanks for the reply. I already did use a new Dolphin installation so that my config does not interfere, I've reset it again but the problem persists and the FIFO recordings show the same errors :/. I highly suspect this is something Mac-specific.
