Description

Game Name?

Resident Evil 4 (Wii)

Game ID? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Info tab)

RB4P08

MD5 Hash? (right click the game in the game list, Properties, Verify tab, Verify Integrity button)

Unknown (Android version does not provide MD5 verification)

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

On Android, when I launch Resident Evil 4 (Wii), the Classic Controller extension does not work. To make it work, I have to open Dolphin's controller settings, change the Wii Remote extension to Nunchuk, return to the game, open the controller settings again, and switch the extension back to Classic Controller. After that, the Classic Controller works normally. I have to repeat this procedure every time I start the Dolphin Emulator.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Open Dolphin Emulator on Android.

  2. Configure the emulated Wii Remote to use the Classic Controller extension.

  3. Launch Resident Evil 4 (Wii).

  4. Notice that the Classic Controller does not respond.

  5. Open the controller settings and change the extension to Nunchuk.

  6. Return to the game.

  7. Open the controller settings again and change the extension back to Classic Controller.

  8. The Classic Controller starts working normally.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

Yes. Version 2606-95.

Is the issue present in the latest release? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest release.

I have not tested the latest stable version.

If the issue isn't present in the latest release, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

I am on Android.
Bisection was not
performed. I only
know it happens on
my current version.

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

This is not a
graphical issue.
No screenshots
are needed.

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

Estou no Android e não no PC

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

Nothing else to
add. Everything
is described
above.

This vaguely reminds me of #12838, though it could be completely unrelated.

If you start with the Nunchuk selected, and then switch to the classic controller, does it work immediately? Or does it still require multiple switches?

I guess also, if you start with the Nunchuk selected, does the Nunchuk work? Is this a classic controller-specific issue, or does it affect all extension controllers?

I tried this game on real console and had similar issues of getting it to work with classic controller and GC controller. I think the game is poorly coded. I couldn't get the GC controller to work at all on either Dolphin or Wii.

According to some Discord messages I wrote in 2023, you can use a GameCube controller if you make sure there's no extension controller in the Wii Remote. Don't ask me why, though.
