Feature Request: Silence the audio while the game window is in the background

Feature Request: Many PC games like Half-Life 2, Portal, and Counter-Strike: Source, and even some emulators have an option in the settings menu that mutes the game window while it isn't in active focus by the operating system. For example, while I'm "tabbed in" on the Half-Life 2 I would be able to hear the game, but if I was "tabbed out", the game audio would stop playing until I tab back in, and as a bonus, it would be a welcome addition of a hotkey can be added that would toggle this functionality, showing a notification toast over the emulator window, I thought about looking at Half-Life 2's source sdk, but it doesn't appear to be in the sdk, and I wasn't sure how to go about contributing and implementing this feature.
List of features requested:
- Silence the audio of the emulator while the game window is in the background
- Hotkey to toggle that functionality, along with a notification "toast" showing over the emulator game window to indidicate that that hotkey has been toggled.

Is there a particular reason why you want the emulator to be silent but still running? (Since there's already an option for pausing emulation when the window is in the background.)
I just think it would be a good quality of life feature, sometimes I tab out during game cutscenes and it's inconvenient sometimes to pause a game as it's loading or saving, sometimes games break during that.
