Emulator Issues #14128
closedGraphical corruption in Need for Speed: Most Wanted (GameCube) on Adreon GPU (Android)
0%
Description
Game: Need for Speed: Most Wanted (GameCube, NTSC)
Device: Samsung Galaxy A36 (Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, Adreno GPU)
Dolphin versions tested:
- Official Dolphin (Android)
- MMJR2
Backends tested: Vulkan and OpenGL — same issue occurs on both.
Description:
The sky renders as a corrupted red/yellow/black checkerboard-like pattern instead of the normal sky texture. This happens consistently during races. Screenshot attached below.
Steps to reproduce:
- Start a race in Need for Speed: Most Wanted (GC)
- Look at the sky
Expected result: Normal sky rendering
Actual result: Corrupted red/yellow/black texture pattern in the sky area
Additional notes:
Tried switching between Vulkan and OpenGL backends — no change. Not sure of the root cause — issue persists across both Vulkan and OpenGL backends, and across both official Dolphin and MMJR2 builds, so it seems driver/GPU related rather than backend-specific.compatibility issue with this game's sky/weather effect rendering.

Yep, it's that Adreno bug that's affecting many people in many games.
If you're going to submit more issues in the future, please make sure you indicate the exact version number of the Dolphin version you tested on. In this case I'll accept the issue since I'm familiar with it already from other games and know it's valid, but normally we don't accept an issue that just says "Official Dolphin (Android)".

Uh, sorry. So, isn't there a solution to this?
Updated by JosJuice about 1 month ago
The solutions that currently exist are exclusive ubershaders or replacing the driver with Turnip.
