What's the problem? Describe what went wrong.

Since the update (to the best of my recollection), I can no longer do ANYTHING within the emulator without it closing the program it seems (I'm not just talking clicking on games to play, I'm talking--trying to click on any of the buttons. The very top menu will at least allow the dropdowns to show, but clicking on any of the options seems to close the program still). I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling different versions, but nothing fixes it. The Linux store also brings up errors at times (such as "Remote listing for dolphin-emu-origin not available; server has no summary file. Check the URL passed to remote-add was valid."), and that doesn't matter whether I installed it there or from the Dolphin site.

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Evidently, it auto-updated to the latest version (2609), which is where this issue arose, when I previously had and started with 2606a, which worked mostly without issue once I figured out how to make it work within ZorinOS.

I didn't realize this at first and opened it up like normal to play a game and quickly realized that anything I clicked made the program close itself. I would then uninstall it within the Linux store/Software app thing, and did this each time this happened (it didn't matter whether I saved app data or not).

I tried reinstalling the previous version (2606a)--same issue. I tried installing it in different ways without going beyond 2606a for security purposes, since your blog post mentioned security concerns, but still no luck.

I tried the 2609 and 2606a Linux x86_64 Flatpaks--I even tried one of the aarch64 versions, and quickly realized I was right not to try that because it was definitely not going to work.

I tried going into the system terminal to do the repository option, and I got this error:
"error: The application org.DolphinEmu.dolphin-emu/x86_64/stable requires the runtime org.kde.Platform/x86_64/6.11 which was not found"

I haven't tried using Bottles to utilize the Windows version (that version had a warning message that brought me pause, and, since I'm still new to Linux, I'm just a bit hesitant in general because I'm not trying to mess up my new computer--I just want to play my old games that I can't otherwise play anymore on my TV). I also haven't tried utilizing the code from GitHub.

Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.

I haven't tried any development versions, as I am of the understanding that release versions are supposed to be more stable, and I just want to play my games.

Is the issue present in the latest release? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest release.

Yes, see above.

If the issue isn't present in the latest release, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)

[First broken version number here (if applicable)]

If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

[Attach any fifologs if possible, write a description of fifologs and screenshots here to assist people unfamiliar with the game.]

What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)

PC Specs and OS

Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

I'm new to emulation and Linux, so I'm sorry if that impedes on how helpful I'll be; however, I'm not necessarily tech illiterate (just learning new things and not super confident on these particular matters yet), so feel free to ask.

  • Operating system Linux added
  • Operating system deleted (N/A)

Are all these issues with the flatpak or have you installed Dolphin in some other way?
From where are you downloading the flatpak?
