Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Start Dolphin
  2. Start Sonic Heroes 3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The game is expected to start, as it has been in previous revisions.
Instead, it hangs and fails to do anything.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
SVN R4357 WinXP Pro MCE x86

Please provide any additional information below.
The VPS number keeps updating, changing from 59/60 to 60/60 as if Dolphin
is still running the game. The FPS is 0/0. The yellow OpenGL text that
displays when starting a game doesn't disappear. I tried changing core and
video options/plugins but nothing I did could fix the problem.

I found out that the ISO is missing about 100MB! It was the standard size of 1.35GB
last I was aware of, now it's 1.24GB. Someting corrupted the image, and it possibly
could've been Dolphin. I'll try and verify that by loading a clean image again.

I re-dumped the game and it's now the correct size. I tried starting it again but
got the same results. But strangely enough, this happens in R4033 as well, and R4033
has ran Sonic Heroes just fine in the past! I didn't update any video drivers, AFAIK
the only thing I've done since I last played it was install the C++ 2008 Runtime to
detect the D3D plugin in newer revs. Does anybody have any idea what could be
causing this? Can someone please test this game on these revisions?

I ran the game with D3D and it started, but nothing was on-screen. I saved a state
and loaded the state with OGL, and it worked, until I went to select my save and the
game hangs again. But it hangs at a different time each time I load the state. And
when it hangs, the music keeps playing and my CPU usage is 100%. How is that
possible if Dolphin is a x86 program? I'm doing this test with R4033.

This game works on R4878 with any plugin as far as I know. The only issue I'm aware
of is that it doesn't want to load in the IL build of Dolphin, so you'll have to use
the normal builds of Dolphin. Also, there's a graphic issue underneath the players
during gameplay (with DX9 only I think). I have no idea how to explain it - but I
think there's another issue for this. But other than that, it works fine now.

The game is working now I believe, it must have been an issue with a revision that
caused it to break on my computer. And I'll look for the shadow defect issue. If I
don't find it I'll make one.
