Mario Kart Wii can no longer save without corrupting the save file

Description
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Launch Mario Kart Wii (with no save or copied save)
- Finish a race or cause a save by any means
- Close and restart the game.
Results:
You will receive a corrupted save message. No matter what you do, you
can't get into game without overwriting the save with another one and
starting over. But once another save occurs, you back in the same boat.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
4696 and Win 7.
Please provide any additional information below.

This is happening for Smash Bros Brawl as well. cant save any more as keeps
corrupting the file. r4683 is the culprit

Fixed in r4684 or above, you just need a valid save from somewhere

mm could this be a separate issue?
ayuanx for "Super Smash Bros Brawl" if you use a valid save file it will load fine,
when you save again anywhere in the save slot it saves. when you come back to save or
when you load again you get file is corrupted. It corrupts the valid save file. don't
know if it got broken again somewhere because the r4684 revert didn't seem to fix it.
