What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Open DSP-HLE Plugin Control panel.
- Select DSound
- Start Trauma Center Second Edition.
- Try operating a patient...
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected to see the HUD and hear the music during the operation.
Instead, HUD does not appear. no music starts playing. It is impossible to
continue with the game.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
r4772. Windows 7 x64. Amd64 x2 4200+ 2,2 Ghz@2,9 Ghz. 4Gb Ram, Radeon
HD4850 512MB.
Please provide any additional information below.
I think the problem comes from r4623.
Before this svn the game worked perfectly with DSound (tried r4613 with no
issues).
Using r4772 When I'm starting an operation no hud is displayed, and the
music does not start. I can only see the body and its wounds but no HUD so
The Game is unplayable.
Selecting OpenAl everything works fine and Hud is displayed, but sound is
very intermittent.
r4623 has an extra option in the DSP-HLE Plugin Control panel. This is the
"Loop Audio Hack" option. If you enable this option, the game works fine
with DirectSound. Disabling it the HUD is not displayed.
In later commits this option has disappeared so the game is only playable
with OpenAl and it is broken with DSound.

It is a littele complicated, if your CPU is powerful enough to run the game always at
100% speed, then Dsound won't have any problem, and OpenAL won't be stuttering, but
if you can't, you have to accept stuttering OpenAL in this game ...

Thanks for your answer! Anyway, I would like to add that its sequel called "Trauma Center New Blood" works
perfectly with DSound with no issues (despite not running the game at 100% speed). I can't understand why Trauma
Center New Blood is working fine for me and Second Opinion is not working. Both games are very very similar
without significant diferences. I may be wrong but I think neither of those two games should work fine if the
problem is due to lack of power cpu.

Tried r6569. Problem has worsened because now game hud is not displayed neither with directsound nor openal.

The game works, but the operation doesn't start.
I can hear the music, pause the game and go to HOME menu but the operation doesn't start.
I tried with directx 9 and 10 and opengl
With svn 4598 works perfectly

In svn r71XX works perfect 10/10, in all r72XX the game crash when start operation !
in r72XX if you set on dx9, accurate texture cache-> fast, operation works but graphics = polygons. normal and safe just crash.
r71XX->r72XX ? :(

This also happens on OS X's CoreAudio. Using LLE fixes it, but I assume that's just because it doesn't play the audio too fast for the emulated CPU to catch up (I can't run the game at full-speed).

please developers fix this on dsp lle its too slow the sound is too slow and on hle sometimes the hud wont appear! thnx
