Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Run Mario Superstar Baseball without dual core enabled on a Windows XP system on the 32-bit version. The game boots, but only passed a few logos and then does not display anything after that. 2. 3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The game does not render anything on-screen with dual core off. I have a
single core PC, but this game needs dual core to be used anyway for the
game to work and display graphics.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
R730 - WinXP 32-bit.

Please provide any additional information below.
Just to make it clear, I have a single core PC, but for this game to work I
have to check dual core for the game to render, it's rather odd. Try it a
few times, sometimes you need to boot the game more than once for it to work.

Obviously, something about the dual core option is making this game run
when otherwise it would not, even on a single core PC.

http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/wiki/DeveloperGuide see Thread Model
"In the "dual core" model, the video emulation is done on the Emu Thread instead of
on the CPU Thread."

You can run as many threads as you want on your single core cpu, but obviously it
won't see the speed boost that a dual core cpu would see.

Perhaps the dual core mode should be renamed to multithreaded graphics or something,
a la pcsx2 to avoid confusion?

anyways, this seems like a valid issue, as there is probably some timing screwup in
single core currently...

I was debating posting this since out of my 50+ games this was the only game that
acted differently with the dual core option enabled and did not really want to post a
game specific issue, but I think in this case where it is a game specific issue, it
involves a game going from working well to not at all based on this setting that it
might have been worth something to you guys to know about it. Maybe this can lead to
fixes or ideas about what makes some games run and other games not run well.

can anyone confirm that this is still an issue?

The game no longer works at all, with dual core or not. Was that what you were wondering?

The game seems to be working again, but again only with dual core checked off.

Lots of DC modification have been done. Is it still an issue?

The game now works without DC enabled but not with it enabled. The opposite of what
it was before - works in single core mode only.
