Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Take 3 color pics with Pictograph of different characters
  2. Take them to the sculptor in the Nintendo Gallery
  3. Give him one
  4. Make a day pass
  5. Give him another
-He will either sculpt this one as well or say "Wait, I've already done
    this one..."
-If he does sculpt it, make a day pass
  6. Try to give him the third pic.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Either on the second picture or the third, he will say "Wait, I've already
done this one..." Since the pics were of three different characters, he
should not say this and instead agree to sculpt it.

Also, it only does some of the ones that he agrees to sculpt correctly. All
the rest are of the wrong characters. Example: I gave him a pic of the love
letter guy on Windfall island and he sculpted the guy who sold you the
sail.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Currently using R4971 on Windows Vista Business

Please provide any additional information below.
Using the DirectX9 Plugin.

hmm, so you can take pictures with the pictograph using the DirectX plugin ? isn't
the screen all black ?
Also you should try with the OpenGL plugin (of course using EFB to Ram)

It used to take only black pics but one of the most recent revisions fixed it (not sure
which). Also, my graphics card does not support OpenGL.

No way... your card has to support OpenGL unless you are using a crappy Intel GFX
chip or if your still using the crappy windows provided drivers

Theevillightbulb: thx 4 ur comment. It inspired me to try to get drivers from the
original company, which after a few hours working on that, was able to get Intel's
driver for their graphics card.

Unfortunately, I have "a crappy Intel GFX," specifically, "Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series
Express Chipset Family"

So...yeah. I can use the current DX9 Plugin, but no OpenGL.

Just a side note, never encountered this problem while playing on the actual gamecube,
so... idk.

Please respond if this issue is still valid, or it will be closed.

I haven't tested it in a while. It was still an issue the last time I played, so I'll check it again with the latest revision.

to post:
Ok, tested with r6515 and the issue still exists.

He still sculpts the wrong characters. Something else that I had never tested before but decided to test: I took a picture of the "Tower of the Gods" from Forest Haven. From there it's just a tall shadow (see pictures). I gave the sculptor this and he sculpted Medli from Dragonroost Island. With this he was not supposed to sculpt anything.

And just a small note: if you take a picture when "EFB to Texture" is selected, it turns out black. It only works if "EFB to RAM" is selected.

Tested on
-Lenovo SL510
-Windows7 Ultimate 64bit
-DirectX9 & DirectX11
-EFB to Texture & RAM

A new problem: Can't "Swap Modes" in camera view. I can't switch to viewing the photos I've taken. I press the button I have assigned to "R" and nothing happens. While not in camera view, pressing "R" will cause link to duck (which is supposed to happen) So I know it's not just a mis-configured button. Should I make a new issue for this?

Issue 3690 has been merged into this issue.

Interesting thing: issue 3690 makes it appear that the color portion of the captured images are off...dunno, just an idea :)

Try the "Have Deluxe Pictograph" cheat and see if it still happens.

Actions #14

Updated by electrodexs about 14 years ago

I doubt that would work, as without it the sculptor still accepts some of the pictures, but I'll try it when I have time.

Well see my issue 3690, I couldn't take a color picture of the chick to show to the dude to get them together for.. ah, just read the issue. :)

I did and it sounds like a different issue, I know I didn't have to tick the hack in order to show pictures to those people way back when I did it... hmmm... I might try to redo that with an older save file in the newest revision.

It is probably different, but they ARE officially merged as duplicate so MEH! :P ;)

The only one I had a problem with was that specific picture. Not sure if there is more color-only pictograph taking in my future.. I hope I don't have to touch the thing again, but pretty sure I do.

Can you try r6778 and later to see if this problem still occurs?

  • Status changed from New to Fixed

This is fixed using EFB Access in both OpenGL and DirectX9 and probablu DirectX11 too.
