punchout error: "save data will be created for punch out"

Description
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.startup punch-out
2.boot screen displays
3.message displays: "save data will be created for punchout" and stops there.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- You cant pass the "save data will be created for punchout" display
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

windows 7 x64
core 2duo @3.36 Ghz
4 Gb mem
GTX 275r5075
opengl plugin and D3D, Dsound & openAL
Please provide any additional information below.
- It has been like this at las from r5xxx
Other games are emulated as correctly as they shuld.
I had the idea that punchout was working on older revisions but It was
only recently that I added it to my "test set"

I believe this game is working due to a hack in the gameconfig file. Please check if you have the gameconfig file
for this game (it will be the same as the titleID). If you do have it and it's still not working, what is the region of
the game do you have?

Apparently it used to work without a hack. I could not find a hack for it now. there
are plenty of videos on youtube showing it running, aparently it is or it was possible.
¿can someone confirm ?
