Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Enable nVidia 3D Vision (Discovery)
  2. Use the DirectX9 plugin in fullscreen mode
  3. Start any game

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The game should start with 3D Vision. But instead it runs normally and it's
impossible to activate 3D Vision.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Dolphin x64 r5110 on Windows 7 x64

Please provide any additional information below.
I haven't used Dolphin for a while so I don't know when 3D Vision have been
broken. But I noticed that now the DX9 plugin seems to fake a fullscreen
mode with a window the size of the screen. I think 3D Vision can't
recognize Dolphin if it's not in a real fullscreen mode or something like
that. I noticed also that the plugin don't crash anymore in fullscreen mode
when a popup appears and this fake fullscreen might be the reason of that.
So in case it's not possible to have a crash free plugin with 3D Vision,
can you considers at least to make an option to switch between fake an real
fullscreen mode ? Because playing Wii games with 3D Vision is just awesome. :p

I hope my English is not too messed up too. ^^

I have done some tests... Yeah I know I didn't used Dolphin for a long LOOOONG time. lol

3D Vision has been broken on r4898. r4897 works perfectly.

Is there a way to make 3D Vision working on windowed mode?

I think no. 3D Vision don't works anymore with any game when I switch it to windowed
mode.

I have done this patch :
http://forums.dolphin-emu.com/thread-7633.html

I have tested it without any problem but I don't know how the DX9 plugin works, so if
someone more experienced can check it...

I can confirm this issue in r5243 and r5435. I would love to see this fixed.

This is still broken in 5513. Changeset 4898 created more critical issues than it fixed and needs to be rolled
back until they are resolved.

The last working version is 5194 for the Dx9 Plugin. Rev 5195 introduced some heavy and confusing changes and disabled the depth, even though 3D vision can be activated.

i think the best option is to add an additional checkbox to the plugin configuration that enables the old fullscreen mode but i fear to fix the missing depth is more complex than changing a few values like the previous 3D vision patches.

i agree this would be a cool option to enable in some games

I played Metroid Prime in 3d today (r5843) and it was fucking awesome !!!
Sure there are several problems with wrong depth but it is so cool.
I would love to see 3d vision working with newer revisions + some fixes
for the wrong depth problems.

I would love to see Dolphin working in Stereoscopic 3D. How do you do it, Nick? Do you have iz3d - I have noticed that people get Project64 working with iz3d no problem, but I have NVidia 3D Vision and none of the 4 emulators and two PJ64 graphics plugins I tried would support it.

Like iz3d, programs do not have to be specifically written to support NVidia 3D Vision, I think all programs have to do is to use "real" fullscreen mode (I guess Dolphin uses a "fake" fullscreen, i.e. a fullscreen window, based on the fact that the mouse cursor doesn't disappear), and to use a normal DirectX geometry pipeline (i.e. don't do the 3D projection calculations yourself). I have a 3D game or two that was unrecognized by 3D vision, but was still stereoscopic.

I tried the patched version of Dolphin's graphics plugin at

http://forums.dolphin-emu.com/thread-7633-page-6.html

but it crashes as soon as I try to start a game.
