Description

Hey, long time no see.

I wanted to see if I could get your input on this feature that I'd like to
see programmed.

As it is right now, when you compress/scrub an ISO with Dolphin-Emu, it
doesn't verify the ISO to see if it's been converted correctly. It might be
wise to have Dolphin-Emu do this because errors can crop up while playing a
game that are caused by the compressed game being corrupted somehow - even
though the compression process says that the compression was a success.
Another way to see if a compressed ISO is corrupt is to extract every file
from the ISO to see if it extracts everything correctly. Another possible
way is to try to uncompress the game to check for errors.

The problem though, is that most users would delete the original
uncompressed ISO copy of their games in favor of the new compressed version
they have. As a result, the user would have to go back and redump their
game to get a proper dump again - very inconvenient.

I have two suggestions, both would be very helpful if implanted:

-One would be an automatic verification check after the ISO has been
compressed/scrubbed with Dolphin to check for any errors with the new
compressed ISO before confirming that the process went without error. You
could even add another verification check before the compression/scrubbing
process begins to see if the original ISO needs to be redumped as well. If
the ISO was not compressed successfully, then present an option to the user
to either try the process again or cancel the process.

-Have a new option available to the user when they right click the game
from the games list that says "Verify Game" which will verify the selected
game to see if it's 100% readable. This would be helpful to those who would
like to verify all their compressed games to see if there are any errors.

What do you think? I think it's a good idea, heh.

I think a good idea would be to MD5 all the files in the image and compare to an MD5
after compressing. Or if there's any way to hash the original image while
disregarding the garbage data then that would be even better.

A "verify 100% readability" option would be good too though, even for those of us who
keep their games uncompressed.

compression dolphin uses is guaranteed lossless...and scrubbing is a very methodological process. If scrubbing a
game breaks it, report that (although the likelyhood of that happening probably approaches 0)
