Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Launch 2.0 RC1.
  2. Options -> Gamecube Pad Settings

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect a configuration dialog. Instead I get a "Warning" that there was
an "Error reading Plugins/GCPad.dll: Can't read info". Dismissing the
warning brings up the glorious "Send Crash to Microsoft" dialog.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.0 RC1 on Windows XP SP3 (32-bit)

Please provide any additional information below.

I see the same when I try to open a DOL built from the devkitPro examples.

This is still a reproducible issue in 2.0 final for Windows 32-bit.

Have you updated DirectX? I seem to recall this being a problem for people with
outdated DirectX.

The system in question has DX 9.0c installed. I've not yet run the updater you
linked, however, if this is the cause, Dolphin really ought to detect the situation
at launch, offer to link the user to the download page, and bail out. Also, noting
the oldest DirectX update allowed somewhere in the docs would be good, if plain 9.0c
won't cut the mustard.

I'm having this problem too. I'm using 2.0 final x64 on Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I
have DirectX 11 so I don't think that's the problem.

  • Status changed from New to Questionable

What he is referring to is do you have the latest DirectX runtime.
If your using a build by someone who is using the latest DirectX SDK you are going to
need the latest DirectX runtime.

We can't help you till you have run the updater.

Follow death2droid's instructions, and go to the forums if you still need help. It's a common problem for new
users.
Yeah, dolphin probably should detect and tell the user what to do - no one has felt the need to do this yet,
though.
