Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Load Mario Kart Wii with the DX11 plugin.
  2. Let it cycle through the ESRB rating screen and the title screen, also try going through the kart, character, and race selection screens.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expected the graphics to be displayed properly, instead the graphics on these screens are broken. The ESRB screen is broken, the title screen is a blurred mess, the character, kart, race selection screens are completely broken with a garbled mess of a black screen.

Once you can get into the race, the ingame graphics are fine.

Dolphin version with the problem? Other Dolphin version without the
problem?

I first noticed the issue on r5710, it still exists in the latest r5734 build.

32-bit or 64-bit and any other build parameters?

I'm using Dolphin x64, this also appears to affect the x86 build of Dolphin as well.

OS version and versions of tools/libraries used?

Windows 7 x64, August 2009 DirectX SDK, latest Windows SDK, latest DirectX redistributable and Visual C++ Redistributable 2008 (x86/x64) is installed on my system.

Please provide any additional information below.

I'm using a Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT as my main graphics card with Forceware 197.45 (x64), Neobrain and rodolfoosvaldobogado aren't experiencing this issue, this issue seems to be limited to very few or a small group of Dolphin users. Here is where I originally reported the issue on the Dolphin forum along with screenshots of the issue:

For the record, MKWii is totally perfect on my ATI 3850 (my build uses the DX SDK from Feb 2010). From ingame, menu and mii faces everything seems to be working :/

Maybe some NV-only issue again...

To anyone: Please state which GFX card you're using, what DX SDK your Plugin binary was build with. In case you're using precompiled builds, tell where you got the build from.

Xtreme, can you post the exact settings of your config? and gfx too to reproduce the bug? mm and maybe the dsp plugin too.

I'll get back to everyone with the setting I am currently using. For the record the issue doesn't seem to be related to the tools that are being used to compile, according to reports the same thing is happening with mamario's and possibly others builds for some members. Probably a Nvidia specific or a driver issue that is behind the problem, other games seem to work fine and so does Mario Kart Wii once I'm ingame.

Actually I'm using the default settings for the DX11 plugin. My display is in windowed mode at 1024 x 768, everything in the DSP-HLE plugin is enabled. Dual core mode enabled, idle skipping disabled, panic handlers disabled.

Try updating the driver to 257.21...

Issue is not related to drivers, I've already tried Forceware 197.45 and 257.21, both exhibit the same issue.

btw, it's not totally perfect once ingame, I had some strange big-pixelish garbage at the lower left of the position GUI...hard to describe ^^ the same kind of garbage is also seen in the beginning of Metroid 3 ingame, when still sitting in your ship...

Yeah I think we can close this issue, I use DX11 + MKWii all the time. It's damn near perfect.

uhm, I won't close this issue until I hear back from X2d, since apparently mkwii works totally perfect for some people, but like crap for others...

Yes, it's fixed now. The last time I checked this game was working fine with DX11 and I just checked again a moment ago and it is still working fine. I'm unsure what revision fixed this game with DX11, but it's fixed now.

Awesome. Bugs start magically fixing themselves now...
Guess the SMG2 music bug will be gone soon as well :P

I wish, I've been stressing myself over that issue and tinkering with the code without much success and the music still stops looping after a while, although it lasts quite a bit longer now.

Any idea what revision might of fixed Mario Kart Wii with the DX11 plugin or will that remain a mystery? :P

The only thing I can think of would be r5892, but not sure.
Maybe it wasn't even me who fixed it, but Tino and I are about the only people who are working on DX11 ;)
