Emulator Issues #3046
closed(Game issue) Sonic Gems Collection (misc problems)
0%
Description
Since r6090, we're finally able to load some of the games on the collection. However, there are still problems with a few games. Here's a quick run down:
Sonic CD: Running the game works now, but exiting out of the game will cause Dolphin to close with no error message. It will close after saving the "Setting Data" (afterwards the screen fades to try and return to the game selection menu).
Sonic R: Game runs and exits fine, weird.
Sonic the Fighters: Game doesn't load at all. Hangs, but might be due to unemulated opcodes (?) or something. The PS2 version of this collection has some problems with the game as well.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
See above

Please test r6163 to see if it fixes this issue.

Hm, strange, I thought I posted something here.
When I tested r6163 a while a go, I said that Sonic CD and Sonic R will both execute and exit perfectly, and that Sonic the Fighters didn't boot at all. Well right now as of r6325, Sonic the Fighters seems to boot to the Sega screen (sorta) but hangs at 0fps soon after.

to play Sonic the fighters you need MMU Speed Hack ticked
this can be closed now
Updated by knuckles500 about 13 years ago
Oh awesome! It does boot up now with the MMU Speed Hack enabled, but the graphics are all messed up for me on the Directx9 plugin:
But unlike PCSX2, the game doesn't have performance issues even with these graphic problems. I noticed that over the past few days that there have been some significant changes to dolphin. As you can see I've been holding off from using newer versions of Dolphin initially because of the texcache-rewrite merge and the change to GIT made it difficult to for me to manage the code initially (I think I got it now though). Later this afternoon I'm going to go test this game again while messing around with graphic settings. Maybe you already figured out a fix for the graphics, nash? :\
But as far as this issue is concerned, the games do technically work now besides the graphical problems in this one. So I'm not sure what should be done to the issue. I guess you could close it, but then again I'd feel a bit better off closing it once I discovered something with the graphics. But it's up to them, heh.

graphics are alright for me using Directx9 plugin or Opengl plugin(except for the text on the controller screen )
im using Dolphin 3.0-158
Updated by knuckles500 about 13 years ago
Hmm, I checked out 3.0-158 and used the same settings as my ICC compile and it still produces the same result. But I did tinker with the video settings some more and was able to get a more accurate image but at a terrible cost of performance when there is 3D on the screen. Would you mind posting your graphic settings?
