Description

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Load the iso with either D3D or openGL pluggins, Jit or Jitil
  2. You will see the emulator start and the Wii warning screens
  3. As soon as the warning screens pass you will get an error "Unknown pointer adress prefix ff, report this to devs: 0xFFFFBB60 continue?"
and then the emulator will close.
on x32 you will get an error "The introduction in 0x006366c9 makes reference to the memory in 0x00000000. the memory could not be read"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The game should continue... but once you select "YES" the emulator closses
The game DOES work on 4664m or in Dolphin 2.0

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
6192 x32 x64
Intel(R) Core2Duo 2.53 2gb
GeForce 8400 gt 512
windows7 x64

Please provide any additional information below.

Another error I get is a warning of

"BackPatch: Courrently only supporting reads.

Attempted to write to 42a5f296."

"BackPatch write - not through EAX"

And then it goes the same as above but changing the numbers

Also in r4664 and Dolphin 2.0 there is no sound during game (it does have sound in the opening movie, but then it's muted again after it)

"Unknown pointer adress prefix ff, report this to devs: 0xFFFFBB60 continue?"

I saw this error 1 or 2 times on metriod prime 3 with rev6186 or rev6487, don't remember cleary, using the new wiimote plugin.

A friend told me it was a problem with a bad button configuration. Never saw again the error after reconfigure the buttons.

Actions #4

Updated by gabrielmorano over 14 years ago

nope, actually it has NOTHING to do with buttons

doen not matter if i use the wiimote or the keyboard, the game just close the emulator no matter what...

like i said it does work on dolphin 2.0 but without sound, and the video is REALLY screwed up

so the video shows....

@luis on which dolphin revision is made that video?

Actions #8

Updated by gabrielmorano over 14 years ago

like i said, it works in dolphin 2.0 and below the r6000 (on r6000 onforward it just crash the emu)
BUT there is no sound at all during the IN-GAME (just on the videos)
and also the image is REALLY screwed up
ALSO i been playing it for a while and it seems not to recognise the save system )so you can't save at all, it says it doesm but it doesn't)

http://www.megavideo.com/?v=60T0IGHV

Also sorry for the bad video, i didnt used fraps and i don't know how to use this recorder :p (my bad) the game works at full speed actually (not all chopped like in the vid)

i found that this is the revision which broke the game r5692
last working was r5691
but it also means u will never see that game working as it involves fifo.

Actions #10

Updated by gabrielmorano over 14 years ago

it can be done with a fifo hack or something... let's hope they fix it (still the game is gonna be out in pc in a while.. and it's exactly the sema, tough i really wanted to play it with the wiimote) :p

Please test Spiderman Shattered Dimensions with r6285. Let me know if the game is fixed.

Updated by hatarumoroboshi about 14 years ago

Sorry, tried a wrong version...with r6285 starts without errors, but you get no save, no in-game sound and in-game graphic has wierd colors...

It is back to how it was on comment 8. Not sure how to fix the remaining issues, but at least it starts up again.

Actions #14

Updated by gabrielmorano about 14 years ago

Yes it does start up again, but we still have the no sound issue and the corrupted savedata (it does not save at all)

Actions #15

Updated by gabrielmorano about 14 years ago

Issue remains the same in r6543 x64 x32

game loads with no error, but you have no sound at all during gameplay (it only has sound on the logo's and FMV's)

and the graphics are all messed up (colours are really psichodelic)

Game Still Loads with no error, but the game continues having the same problem with the sound and graphics and it's not possible to save as well...

r6655

Some update after testing with r6730:

  • if using Copy to RAM and then in-game activating "enable cache", graphic will be almost good (but it will be messed up again when you activate the spider-sense, so you have to disactivate and reactivate the cache).
  • sound works only with LLE (but very skippy).
  • Saving still doesn't work.

For the "saving" issue, I can only suggest you to import a working save file (data.bin) from a real Wii into Dolphin... and see if Dolphin is able to read the save data.
Are there any files that are found in data.bin which are missing (can't be created) from Dolphin?

Actions #19

Updated by DimitriPilot3 almost 14 years ago

(some logs from a Dolphin build have been posted in r6791)

Actions #20

Updated by hatarumoroboshi almost 14 years ago

I think Dolphin cannot create a data.bin, anyway using an imported save it sais "the file cannot be used because the data is corrupted"...

Actions #21

Updated by gabrielmorano almost 14 years ago

Importing a .bin save does not work either as it can't read the file (same error) also, even if it worked... it's pointless since you can't do the autosaves inside the stages...

So, Saving, graphical and sound problems are still an isse in r6798

Actions #22

Updated by hatarumoroboshi over 13 years ago

Update: save problem has been fixed by r7502 or r7503...now remains only the problem of corrupted/messed up graphic (and the no sound problem, but for that there's at least the LLE plugin that works)...

Actions #23

Updated by hatarumoroboshi about 13 years ago

If that should help in fixing the problem, I found out that using a custom projection hack with only the option (-)+zFar ticked, the game has normal graphic (no more messed up), but you lose all the intro screens and menĂ¹ letters...

Actions #24

Updated by hatarumoroboshi about 13 years ago

Another thing to notice is that in software mode the graphic is ok with or without hack...

Actions #26

Updated by s.ozdal about 13 years ago

Open Dolphin. Go to tools and then Wii save import. Choose the bin file.

I think the projection hack value is wrong: with it (0.7) we loose shadows and the life gauge...I would suggest to use the value of 10 (still not perfect but seems to me much better) instead of 0.7 and to disable the "disable per pixel depth option" (aka enable per pixel depth) to avoid sky flickering.

Ok, i will try to test things from my end too and report back. It will be implemented in the next gameconfig commit.

Actions #29

Updated by hatarumoroboshi over 12 years ago

With the projection hack enabled the Wiimote-Nunchuck icons (explaining what to do) do not show up)...

Actions #30

Updated by kostamarino over 12 years ago

OK i tried 0.5 value for both and it seems just fine for both direct 3d backends(9 and 11), opengl still has the issue though. Maybe a bit of tinkering can fix that too? Anyhow this is a nice find and it will definitely be committed, probably after the merge of hashless branch.

Actions #31

Updated by hatarumoroboshi over 12 years ago

I couldn't find a better value than 0.5 zNear correction + 0.5 zFar correction...anyway with them shadows are 99% visible, life gauge is always visible, there's no more black sky using per pixel depth and Wiimote icons show up.
For the OpenGL (but I suggest it for Dx9 too) you have to untick the "Disable per pixel depht" option (otherwise you get a black box instead of the flickering sky of Dx9).

Another thing that I didn't know is that the graphic corruption (copy to textures) and strange colours (copy to RAM) are visible only in the first level, other levels should be fine (at least the second and third levels are fine).

I think Spiderman Shattered dimensions doesn't need anymore the projection hack, could you check it?
I think it also doesn't need copy to RAM in the game.ini (isn't copy to RAM for this game only needed in the hashless branch?)

Actions #34

No it doesn't need proj. hack.
