Emulator Issues #326
closedPokemon Colosseum sound issue
0%
Description
What steps will reproduce the problem?
- Run Dolphin
- Load "Pokemon Colosseum"
- Play it
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I won't ask for a fully 100% game, but it could be better than how it's
working right now. The game is slow because of the DSP plugin and music is
cut and buggy and sometimes it gets unstable and more buggy when you save
the game into the memory card.
Besides, I've changed my processor and my video card if that was the
issue, but still I get nothing.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
r1219
Windows XP SP3
Please provide any additional information below.
This is the intro to the game with a Nintendo Gamecube console.

With this DSP the emu runs the music at 50%.
I'll show my specs now:
Athlon X2 5600+ 2.93 Mhz
XFX 8800GS 384 PCI-e
2 GB RAM
XP SP3

Please respond if this issue is still valid, or it will be closed.

I'll test later today, I'm in class and won't be home for another four or five hours. I tried recently (30 or 40 revisions ago or so) and it still had the same issue but I haven't tried the most recent batch of revisions.

Testing...
I get full speed but the music is still an issue to be solved. Oh well, I get full speed so I don't really care.

Confirmed, it's still an issue.
With the HLE plugin: DSound backend is almost perfect but still missing some sound effects (all backends are skipping the chime at the "The Pokémon Company" logo). XAudio2 and OpenAL still skip instruments all over the place. Everything was tested with the 48kHz sample rate.
The LLE plugin naturally doesn't have these problems, but it's slow as fuck and has audio issues of its own on any backend.

As a side note, for some reason Colosseum seems to have major issues with crashing when stopping emulation. Every single time I pushed the stop button to change a setting in the DSP plugin I had to kill the dolphin process with the task manager. Doesn't seem to happen with other games, though I can't test every other game in existence.

Technically, this issue was here first.

I've tested Tales of Symphonia and it has the same issue (r6603 x86)

I followed all the instructions in this page: http://wiki.dolphin-emulator.com/index.php?title=Tales_of_Symphonia, but it still has the same issue

I don't know if this issue should even be open anymore. It's solved by using DSPLLE. HLE it's the same story, but LLE is quite literally perfect.
