Description
Hi everyone,
I seem to have two weird graphical issues with SMG 2 for which I can't find any solutions.
Issue no. 1
What's the problem?
When using OpenGL, most of the enemies and some objects in the game (i.e. flowers) are too bright. It's quite annoying and I can't find the cause of this. It seems that the camera direction also affects the brightness of the enemies/objects; when Mario approaches them from particular directions, they return to their normal color. When using DirectX 9 as the graphical plugin, objects and enemies that were bright on OpenGL just turn plain black. See below for pictures.
Issue no. 2
There seems to be a problem with the blur effect on SMG 2 when using OpenGL. Normally, the blur effect occurs when the camera zooms in on a galaxy with the "Mario-ship" after you have chosen that galaxy. The camera should focus on the ship and the galaxy while the background should be blurred. In my case however, everything is blurred, even the ship and the chosen galaxy. The same goes when Mario is fighting a boss, everything is blurred while only the background should. To make my problem clear, I have attached a screenshot below. Using DX9 removes the blur effect entirely.
Info:
I'm uing Dolphin R 6456, 32-bit on Windows XP with an nVidia 7900 GT card.
Are there any fixes for this?
Greetings,
John
Hi there,
It's possible that your problem is a regression. Regressions can be easy to fix if a developer knows which revision of Dolphin caused the regression. However, testing which revision broke anything can be a damn time-consuming task or even impossible if you can't reproduce it (while the mistake in the affected commit might be obvious). Thus, we (the Dolphin devs) heavily depend on our users telling us proper information. That is, it would be nice of you if you checked different Dolphin builds until you can tell us for sure which revision caused this issue. You'll certainly get more developer feedback then (if you don't, we really have no idea) and the issue will more likely be fixed soon.
I don't have that issue, it's likely one of your settings that caused it.
You don't have any of the following options enabled do you:
Disable Fog
Safe Texture Cache
Use XFB (Real or Virtual)
Widescreen hack
Or anything else that is meant to reduce quality for speed or vice versa..
If so, disable those options by unchecking. The issue could also be driver related so try updating your video card drivers.
NeoBrain: That would be a lot of work but I'll try and do my best ;)
Xtreme2damax: None of these options are enabled. So I guess it's my videocard then? I did kinda find a fix for the bluriness problem; just Alt+Tab'ing out of the game and Alt+Tab back. The first issue is still there. I'll try to fiddle with the options a bit.
I'm using r6515 and I don't have those problems with an ATI 5870! Try to update drivers or download a new rev!:)
Hm, actually doesn't seem like a regression if others report it to be working...
Try on a clean build with a clean config, maybe it works then?
can you test my last commit
