Description

What's the problem?

In Super Mario Galaxy 2 the wii remote pointer is not recognized by the game at all. It is not shown, and as such cannot be used in the game. It works in other games with the same revision. Like Goldeneye.

Dolphin version with the problem (as it appears in the title bar, Ex.: "R
4779" or "R 6403M"):

R 6733 (From the ppa)

(optional) Dolphin version that does not have the problem:

Operating system and version:
32-bit or 64-bit:

Ubuntu Linux 10.10 64-bit

Game ID (as it appears in game properties, Ex.: "GZ2P01" or "RSBE01"):

SB4E01

Build command-line (not on Windows):

Was the ISO a plain dump from disc, compressed and/or scrubbed?

Plain ISO may have been scrubbed.

Please provide any additional information below.

The game does not show the pointer at all or give any indication that it exists, I'm using a real wiimote and nunchuck and it works fine in other games. I have enabled EFB CPU access as well.

Have you enabled Copy EFB to RAM too?

No I haven't tried copy to RAM only to Texture, I'll check that and post back after trying. Is there a difference?

  • Status changed from New to Invalid

Yeah, Copy to RAM is more accurate emulation which fixes some games like SMG, SMG2, SMS, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2. The downside is that it is much slower (sometimes half speed). I'm pretty sure that Copy to RAM will fix the problem you're getting, so I'll mark this invalid. Let us know if it still does not work and we'll look into it further.

I tried it with the copy set to RAM, and while it did make the game slower the pointer still is not recognized by SMG2 at all, while goldeneye still did.

Try switching the sensor bar setting from "Top" to "Bottom" or vice versa. Do you have EFB CPU access enabled also (it should be enabled)?

I'll check changing the sensor bar from bottom to top. The EFB CPU access has been on as well.

after checking just now the sensor bar's position doesn't change anything, It still works in other games just not SMG2.
