Description
What's the problem?
Well the Snapshot hot key doesnt work in the 64 bit version, and in the 32 bit version none of the hot keys work.
Dolphin version with the problem (as it appears in the title bar, Ex.: "R
4779" or "R 6403M"): I know that "r6818" and "r6724" have this problem i dont know if the versions between them have the problem though.
(optional) Dolphin version that does not have the problem: r4771
Operating system and version: Windows 7
32-bit or 64-bit: Both
Game ID (as it appears in game properties, Ex.: "GZ2P01" or "RSBE01"): i cant find it im sorry i looked really hard.
Build command-line (not on Windows): All righty then, i'll just skip this one then since i have windows.
Was the ISO a plain dump from disc, compressed and/or scrubbed? Im not sure..... but the problem isnt with the ISO the problem is with the dolphin emulator.
Please provide any additional information below.
The button on the Dophin screen works, but the hotkey for it doesnt.
Updated by hatarumoroboshi almost 14 years ago
For me the hotkey (F9) works perfectly (32-bit)
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
what is that link for? Did you fix the problem?
Updated by skidau almost 14 years ago
Do you have the hotkey mapped to some other control (like gc pad or wiimote)? Which hotkey have you used for the screenshot?
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
I have the F9 key for the screen snapshot button. And F9 is the default hoy key for Screen shots...
Updated by hatarumoroboshi almost 14 years ago
Since you say that last working revision should be r4771 (very very old), isn't it possible that your F9 keyboard key got broken long time ago? (I wouldn't notice because in fact I never use those keys...)
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
Well im not sure if there are newer versions than r4771 that the F9 key works on but i got that version only about a month and a half ago from a site that apperently doesnt stay very up to date with emulators.
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
OK I checked to see if it wasnt working because my F9 was broken, by changing the hotkey for snapshots to the 9 key (which im sure works) and it worked once and then stopped working again... :( it seems that once i start the brawl thats is when the snapshot key stops working ... I hope that bit of info helps fix this problem. :)

DOES ANYONE CARE ABOUT MY PROBLEM!?!?!?!? IM THE ONLY PERSON THAT STARRED IT AND ITS BEEN UP FOR OVER A WEEK!!!!!!!!
Updated by hatarumoroboshi almost 14 years ago
First try to find the revision that caused the problem for you...

After over 8 HOURS of searching through the past dolphin versions i have found out the problem started some where between R5359 and R5335 but there arent any working versions between them so im not exactly sure which version the problem came up on. But Im thinking the problem is somewhere in the code on R5359 that fixed the input problem in R5358 through R5336 but i'm not sure.
I also found out that with the snap shot hot key problem the hot key works fine until you use the arrow keys then they stop working, the ALT+5 shortcut also stops working along with i think all of the other hot keys as well. But any other key doesnt effect the functioning of the Hot keys.
So someone please fix this problem i've given you a TON of information on the problem.
And if it helps more specific infomation about my computer is:
MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
AMD Athlon II P320 Dual-Core Processor, 3.0 GB of RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
R5335 is the last/most-recent working version of Dolphin i found that doesnt have this hot key problem. And the most recent one i tested to see if the hot keys were still broken was R6882 and yes they are still broken.

Zip up your Config directory (the one with dolphin.ini and the other ini files and attach it here).
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
Ok, the config from which dolphin version?
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
I talked about alot of Dolphin versions and I still have a bunch from the when i searched through all the dolphin versions.
Updated by skidau almost 14 years ago
The config from your latest version - the one where the hotkeys do not work.
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
ok... Ummm....... I couldnt find the ini files.... (i feel so stupid DX ) I dont have the software or knowledge to make dolphin versions (if that is where you'd find those files) i just play them and to my best to help fix them with testing. I can attach the entire emulator though if you want.
And the config in the lastest version i tryed is just default...... the one where i actually changed the keys to test the arrow problem was R8656. So do ya want me to attach that?
Updated by glennricster almost 14 years ago
Do you know where Dolphin.exe is? In that same directory there is a subdirectory named "User". In that directory, there is a subdirectory name "Config". The Config directory contains all of the ini files. That is what skidau is asking for.
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
ok that helps :) i didnt see a ini file extension so i wasnt sure if that was them XD
I'll just attach the Config to this message then :)
I hope it helps :)
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
if you want it with the default controls just let me know :)
Updated by skidau almost 14 years ago
The screenshots are saved in a sub-directory under User/ScreenShots, for example User/ScreenShots/GZLP01. The screenshots are .png files. Are you sure the screenshots are not there?
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
Yes im sure every time i press the Snapshot key and it work it says a message at the top of the screen saying it saved the snapshot.
And i also checked a few times when it didnt show that message when i pressed the snapshot hotkey and as i thought it didnt take the snapshot. So the hotkeys (all of them) do break after after you use the arrow keys for some reason.
This is the message i see when the snapshot works

So can someone please start working on this problem?? :( I feel ignored because this problem has been up for a long time and it still isnt fixed, not even started. :(
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
I dont like feeling ignored it makes me really sad. :'( And can someone else please star this issue? im tired of waiting days sometimes for a simple response to a post i added :(
Updated by glennricster almost 14 years ago
We aren't ignoring you. The problem is that we can't replicate the problem. If we can't replicate the problem then we will not be able to fix it.
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
I see... :( so i guess im just screwed then :( ... but thats just my luck to encounter a problem that only affects me and NO ONE else. :'(
Updated by skidau almost 14 years ago
If it only affects you and no one else, that means that the problem is something local on your machine. Can you think of anything running on your system that is capturing keystrokes? e.g. hotkeys in your video driver or anything running in the tray.
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
I dont think so... I know the hotkeys for windows are always active... but i dont think thats the problem..... Do you think it could be the Unziping Software im using?
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
I use winzip but it looks like alot of people here Use winrar do you think that could be the problem?
Updated by skidau almost 14 years ago
No, it won't be winzip nor winrar.
Check if sticky keys is enabled. To do this, go to "Control panel" -> "Ease of Access Center" -> "Make the keyboard easier to use".
Make sure that everything on this screen is unticked. Let us know if that fixes the problem.
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
Everything is unticked and that still didnt fix the problem. But i have Windows 7 so My control panel looks a bit different. Maybe thats the problem that my computer is a windows 7 computer. Well anyways i attached a picture of how my ease of access center looks in case there is anything there that could help.

Please test if r7169 has fixed this problem.
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
OK :) I might just run into a problem finding unziping software now XD
Updated by harryackerman almost 14 years ago
Ok i'd love to test it but there is just one little problem. I looked and looked and the most recent dolphin version i found was r7128. So if you want me to test r7169 why isnt it available for download?
Updated by skidau almost 14 years ago
A lot of information related to the emulator can be found in the forum:
Updated by mercury.phlegmatic over 13 years ago
I appear to have this issue as well with r7227, on 64-bit Win 7.
All hotkeys work fine until I hit either the down or right arrow keys, at which point all hotkeys stop working, and I begin to hear the system beep frequently (roughly correlated to when I press keys). Minimizing and restoring the window temporarily fixes the issue until the down or right arrow keys are pressed again. The up and left arrow keys do not cause any issues, and the down and right arrow keys cause the issue regardless of the ISO or whether or not emulation is paused when I press them. Down and right also don't need to be configured as controls for them to cause the problem.
Remapping my down and right arrow keys to other keys via Autohotkey alleviates the problem.
Updated by harryackerman over 13 years ago
Well that makes me feel a bit better that i'm not the only one with the problem..... I hope the problem gets fixed soon.
And ya i changed the configuration for the Up down left right keys to the ; , . / keys.
Updated by harryackerman over 13 years ago
And sorry that this took so long but in r7169 none of the hot keys worked. I tryed them right away, and nothing happened.
But im sure by now someone is working on fixing the problem. Because i dont really like using the ; , . / keys as my up down left and right keys. :(

Save state hot keys (shift+f1.....) not working in ubuntu 12.04. Maybe due to unity integration or something like it.
Updated by fdsa0113 about 12 years ago
I have this issue too. I currently have Dolphin 3.0 for 64bit (not sure what revision this is.. i got this as the latest stable dolphin).. im using Win7 Ultimate 64 bit.. but everytime i use TAB for throttle, all hotkeys are disabled including save states, pause/play etc.. reading the comments i tried using the down/right arrow kyes (on the keyboard) and they too disable hotkeys.. I could get the hotkeys to work again by clicking on the Dolphin window (not the game window) then back.. But once i hit TAB or RIGHT or DOWN, hotkeys are disabled again.. This may be a window focus issue.. i tried setting my keyboard PAD settings to background input, but still no luck.. i was previously using 3.0 - 319 dirty, and that has no problems..
