Sonic Unleashed Hangs During Level 2 Loading

Yup, it so happens that the GL plugin becomes stuck on finishing the loading.
Interpreter mode fails to start as well. I haven't found the cause of that hang yet.
BTW, how's quad core with dolphin? not enough threads, eh?

i had same problem in dolphin 2785. than i try the dolphin 3089 but same problam was
again. I cant play , game always still hang in levels holoska , adabat , spagonia...
are you sure its fixed. it its fixed why it still hang on that levels ?
some people says it runs perfect on revision 2202 . if it is true where can i find it ?

Sonic Unleashed hangs again on the latest revisions because the 'hack' that was fixing
it had been removed. The problem is caused by incorrect floating point emulation.
For now you can use the Dolphin IL (where the hack still remains) or run Dolphin in the
debug mode and disable JIT Paired.
Hope if I figure out how to use x86's FTZ mode without breaking anything, it'll be
fixed once and for all

found something interesting (still testing):
I'm also trying to play Sonic Unleashed, but with normal dolphin, Hang at loading-
screen + 0 FPS. dolphinIL hangs short after loading-screen.
The first one who posted a problem like that (issue 398) has a AMD Phenom CPU.
I'm using an AMD Phenom II X4 940.
On the PC of my little brother, the Game stops at same places (he has an AMD Athlon
64 X2 4200+).
I tested the Game with the current Versions of dolphin, but no luck till now.
But: I tested the Game on my Notebook (Intel Core2Duo P8600) and the Game has no
problem (only lagging).
So far I think it has something to do with AMD CPU's...

Same problem here with AMD Phenom II X4 955, it just looping after the first star in
the loading screen, i have tried to run it in debug mode and DolphinIL, that will get
me past the loading screen but then it freezes again but now with ingame screen
instead of the loading screen.
Im using REV 4713 btw.
Furthermore i must add that the framerate isn't exactly great, im running @ 17,5 FPS

Well, tried this one with R5436 and it still hangs. In R3200 the game works with full
graphics (thanks to the PCNative Texture thing), full speed and all levels work, but
as i said, in the newer versions it hangs again in the second level of tutorial.

I've found the best thing to do is play with JIT until you reach a point where it
freezes, then restart the game with JITIL and play the level which doesn't load right
to completion. After that stop the emulator, switch to JIT and resume playing again.
Don't use save states because for whatever reason the controls don't work when you
load a JITIL save state while using JIT.

Actually strike that above, on the holoska stage the JITIL compiler gets stuck after
the level has loaded but before it lets you control sonic. The interpreter gets past
this part but saving a state and then loading it with a different compiler results in
you not being able to control your character, so its a complete showstopper.

unfortunately the only way to emulate Sonic Unleashed have found so far beyond the second mission was to use another console PS2 or PSCX2 0.97 (emulator), the quality is much lower but gives a good computer to emulate very well.
I tried many things, I even got to save several phases to see if it was only the second mission that crashed still fighting continues in other phases, the one who worked for a while was using PSCX2 0.97, but I confess that I prefer to play for the dolphin, the quality and speed dolphin is far superior in my computer to play very well, if not for the problem of the second mission, and see that my low end computer runs fine Sonic Unleashed.

I'll keep trying settings to see if the problem fixes and when I get tired playing in PSCX2.

Its not fixed yet. The game still hangs on JIT, and in JIT IL the game still hangs in the snow level (can't get in). So, this issue should remain open, i guess, since the game only worked for a couple of revisions (r3200 for example works well). Tested with r6191.

He is probably refering to revision 3200 (or other close to that one) or to JIT IL ( JIT IL can start the second level and pass it, but the snow level, it just crashes on loading, or shortly after enter (like 1 ~ 2 seconds, even before you can control Sonic). In JIT, the game is still unplayable, JIT IL is playable, however, as you can't pass the snow level (Holoska), you just can't finish the game from begin to end. this, still with r6191 of course, but even older ones do the same. The game was only truly playable around r3200.

Well, i kind of know: There was introduced a hack to the floating points, witch make Sonic Unleashed Playable, but was removed because it broke F-zero, but kept in JIT IL. The Snow level, i can't tell when it did get broken =/ One dev recently found the hack, here is the revision where he changed it: r6165, but it wasn't there were the snow level got broken, as i tested with r6164 and it still didn't worked.
