Playing Mario Kart Double Dash and am having the same problem. It starts at the Mushroom Cup screen. If you continue to hold it down after about 10 seconds and a Bazillion dings it will stop, but as soon as you press another key it dings.

I tried using a 4 axis 12 button gamepad, but could not get it to work with the game.

I am still a newby, just installed and started using it about 4 hours ago. I have to go through all the adjustments cause the game runs kinda slow. I am thinking it has something to do with the sound, but graphics might need set lower.

If anyone figures out the keyboard problem, PLEASE let us know. LOVE this emulator, once set correctly I am sure it will KICK ASS.....

Thanks

It's a limitation of keyboards, I believe a keyboard allows for 4 - 8 simultaneous key presses else you get that error sound, that is not an issue with the emulator. When you are mashing buttons, and trying to control the character you are probably exceeding the 4 - 8 key press limitation. Using a gamepad and configuring the input to use the gamepad (Not mapping the keyboard keys to the gamepad) should solve this issue.

@Xtreme2d
if it's a limitation of keyboards,why before svn r7185 no these "error sound"???
and i will test useing a gamepad

It was always an issue, you probably didn't press more than 4 - 8 keys at once before and didn't notice this limitation until recently. It's not something that developers can fix as it's a limitation of PC hardware, specifically keyboards. To fix you will need to configure a gamepad, and not map keyboard keys to the gamepad. If you have a gamepad there should be no reason to map keyboard keys anyway. So yeah, that is how you solve this particular issue.

xtreme: this isn't caused by pressing many keys at once. it's caused by incorrect focus being assigned to windows, so windows gets grumpy.

Is there any way to fix this actually?
It is someway annoying, if you actually play with "WASD"-keys and always hear a "bing".
I just deactivated the sound from Windows itself tho.

And I noticed, it doesn't happen with the Arrow Keys.

I am also having this problem. I get the 'ding' sound any time I press a button other than an arrow key. It isn't from pressing too many keys either because it happens if I just press 'x' by itself.

Have the same problem.
I have nothing new to report just am replying to be notified when new replies for this topic arrive.
P.S. The number of pressed keys is not the problem in this case; the bloody sound dings when only one key is pressed.
