Description

What's the problem?
The style of a game's contextual menu change after you click "Properties". Do this (tested on Win 7):

  • Right-click on any game. Note that the contextual menu is Windows style.
  • Choose Properties.
  • Close the Properties window
  • Right-click again on a game. You can see that the contectual style is not Windows style anymore.

This probably happens on Vista and XP, too.

Dolphin version with the problem (as it appears in the title bar, Ex.: "R
4779" or "R 6403M"): tested with R7461, but issue probably exists since a long time.

I remember that, some time ago, there were the same issue with all the menus, which did not look like a Windows-style application, since the startup of Dolphin. I don't remember who fixed it.

For this case, I think the issue may come from drawing the comboboxes from a tab.

Bonus: the icon of "Partition" (from the Filesystem tab) disappeared since bunch of revs. ;)

Uhmm!!! °_°
I can't reproduce this bug. I have Win 7.
Attach a pic. :)

ok ok catched, should be something related to AR codes.
Indeed, if you don't have any AR code in presets this bug doesn't happen.

...obviously Gecko codes as well.

Hey, you got it! Issue only happens with downloaded codes.
I hope it can be fixed for release.

"Bonus: the icon of "Partition" (from the Filesystem tab) disappeared since bunch of revs."
From my testing, I believe r7360 is the revision which made the "disc" icon near Wii partitions (in the tree view) disappear. At least, this icon still appears near the root node (called "Disc")...

I'm on XP and I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about. I right-click a game in the game browser, click "Properties," close the dialog, right-click again, and what exactly is different? I don't see anything…

@MofoMan, gnick79 says that this issue occurs only if AR and/or Gecko codes are present for the game you right-click on.

I made a screen picture to illustrate what Pascal is talking about:

Something appears to have changed between r3973 and r4205/r4231 :

  • In r3972, the game contextual menu always uses the so-called "non-Windows style" (as shown on the right) ;

  • In r4205, the game contextual menu first uses the so-called "Windows style" (as shown on the left), then ends up using the so-called "non-Windows style" upon completing these steps below (for this issue to be reproduced):

    1. Open Dolphin
    2. Right-click on any game, open its game properties
(Skip step 3 if there already is at least one AR/Gecko code or patch for the selected game.)
    3. Add a patch, an AR code or a Gecko code for this game (all of those use the same kind of list with checkboxes)
    4. Close the "game properties" window
    5. Right-click on any game - it doesn't have to be the same game as above

Not sure about Windows XP, but for me this old issue is still reproducible using Mamario's Win32 build of r7468 on Windows 7 x86.

Thanks Dimitri. Your picture is great and shows exactly what I mean. I thaught it was clear for other people, as gnick79 understood the issue. Sorry guys ;)

Off issue: Dimitri, I see on your screenshot that you have M&S @ Olympic Games (is it Vancover 2010?) and Sonic Heroes. Do you have the same issues as me when running the games? M&S crashes when starting to play, and graphic issues for Sonis heroes.

This bug doesn't exist on XP. XP always shows something like the menu on the right side of that image, probably because XP was before any of the fancy Aero effects of Vista/7.

Thanks for the image, though, and good luck with this one.

Solved in r7472.

  • Operating system Windows added

FWIW, I had the issue's "culprit" narrowed down to a revision between r4072 (where the issue occured immediately) and r4078 (where the issue occured after a patch was added). Now that was a quick fix :p

@pascal:
Yes, I know about the crashing issue in "M&S at the Olympic WINTER (so yes, Vancouver 2010) Games", known as issue 1610.
As for Sonic Heroes, what kind of graphic issue is it - the one with the shadows (issue 267), or another one (which I may have encountered recently)? On top of that, I also experience issue 960 which makes this particular game somewhat hard/unplayable depending on the level...

Dimitri, yes it's the shadow issue. I'm just surprised that no one fixed it since it appeared in the 3xxx builds... :(
