Description

It would be a nice enhancement similar to how Wii Remote Plus works should anyone try to support it

I think this is retarded.

Seems pretty pointless, Dolphin already has real Wiimote support. Why would you want support for yet another device that doesn't work as well?

I don't think PSMove controller support is very viable. Sure, the motion sensors could be useful to imitate a Wiimote, but the pointer tracking would require a seperate module to interpret the results from the camera and turn them into something useful.

If we were making a PS3 emulator, it would make more sense. But I don't foresee anyone making a viable PS3 emulator anytime soon.

What about support for just for the Move navigation controller? It seems very similar to the Wii Nunchuk controller

"but the pointer tracking would require a seperate module to interpret the results from the camera and turn them into something useful"

The pointer ability with the Move does not depend on the camera.

Completely retarded.

If you wanna play Wii games, for God's sake use a Wii Remote and not a PS3 controller.

xBox 360 support is totally different, as there is an existing API to use.

Reason for this for my case is that I own ps move controllers, and I would rather play with them than the mouse and keyboard. And I feel it's very unnecessary to buy a wiimote if I could just use the Move controllers as they are very similar and has enough buttons to use. Simply with a webcam.

So in my case this would be very helpful. And not retarded at all.

Well then maybe you should buy a wii

You need bluetooth to connect the ps move, if you have bluetooth you are better off using your wii remote.

Secondly, the "point" ability of the ps move is handled by the ps eye, detecting where the glowing dot is and the angle of the controller in all axis'. Processing of this is cpu intensive, and as the major bottleneck of dolphin is the cpu the decrease in processing availibility outweighs any gain people will have from being able to use their ps move controllers as well as their wii controllers.

Actually, it looks like ps move can be used as a pointer using gyroscope, but this still requires processing to work out changes in movements etc.

PS Move is much more advanced than the Wii-mote so if you have a PS motion controller it makes a lot of sense using this rather than having to buy a separate Wii-mote.
Unlike the wii-mote ps move does not depend on the sensor bar to calculate movement.
PS move works perfect using just the magnetic sensors in it. Resident Evil 5 move edition utilizes that and does not require you to use the camera.
The extra processing power would not be an issue today since the i5 and i7 became a standard a long time ago.

I agree too that the PS move controller is far more advanced & responsive than the wiimote. The wiimote feels sluggish when using the pointer or performing gestures. The wiimote is much more susceptible to "pointer glitch jumps". However the PS move feels very responsive and precise and much less susceptible to "pointer glitch jumps".

Take a look at the showcase here: http://thp.io/2010/psmove/

I know someone attempted getting PS move working in dolphin but he required several wrappers JoyEmu, MotioninJoy, and ppjoy. It would be nice to have dolphin natively support the PS move API so can get 100% functionality.
