Description

--What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
WiiWare games Castlevania Rebirth and Contra Rebirth cannot create a save file if loaded from a channel on the System Menu. It will report that there is not enough storage on the Wii (although the System Menu reports over 1600 blocks free).

--What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Install Castlevania Rebirth or Contra Rebirth game to a channel that does not have a save file created.
  2. Load the game.
  3. When it tries to create a save file, it will report there is not enough storage.

--What version of dolphin are you using?
Dolphin v3.0-96 (x64)

--Please provide any additional information below.
If the game is loaded from the Dolphin browser, there is no issue creating a save file. After the file is created, the game can then be loaded from the channel and it will load the save file correctly. A few other games that I have tested do not seem to have this issues.

The screenshot below happens in both Castlevania Rebirth and Contra Rebirth.

I missed Gradius Rebirth, happens in this game as well.

Bighead, would you please re-test this with 3.0-436 or newer? This problem may have been recently fixed.

Hey sorry for the delayed reply, been awhile since I browsed through the issues.

Regarding the issue, loading anything from the Wii System Menu now crashes the emulator. I have tried the lazy way of copying the User/Wii folder from an older build (3.0-228), loaded system menu, loaded any wiiware title, and an error message appears "ERROR: Compiling at 0. LR=00000000 CTR=8133f60", followed by a crash.

I have tried a fresh download of 3.0-537 (latest rev as of this post), installing only the system menu and a WiiWare game. I have tried both System Menu 4.2 and 4.3 U versions. This time the error message does not appear, but the emulator immediately crashes. I have tried multiple WiiWare titles, all of them crash.

Seems like something else went wrong along the way.

At first I was trying to install the system menu from a wad file, this is when the emulator crashes with no error message. Using a real nand dump from my actual Wii, I get the error message. I was hunting which revision is causing the error/crash, unfortunately I cannot pinpoint it exactly because the official builds have a gap. But I can verify it happened somewhere between 3.0-458 and 3.0-491. 458 using a real nand works perfect when trying to load a game from system menu, 491 gives the error message. I'll try to hunt for other revisions elsewhere and see if I can pinpoint which revision is causing the issue.

Ok so I've narrowed it down I think. Dolphin 3.0-459 loads titles from the system menu correctly, 3.0-461 does not and gives the error message "ERROR: Compiling at 0. LR=00000000 CTR=8133f60". This means the issue started in either 460 or 461. Hope this helps.

Since this issue is seperate from the Rebirth games, I'll open a new one. Oh and I meant to say 578 in my first reply, not 537.. I'm tired so the numbers got jumbled in my brain.

One last message, sorry for all this spam.... To answer your question skid, the issue regarding the Konami "Rebirth" games was not resolved. Dolphin v3.0-459 still said that there is not enough system memory and to clear some up. Loading the game from the Dolphin menu worked fine, it asked if I wanted to create a save file.
